He was aware of the first e-mail and passed it up where it was ended at the discretion of the parents. I see nothing wrong with that since the first e-mail was just creepy and not sexual explicit. Trying to hang Hastert on the first e-mail doesn't hold any water for me.
There has been more than one situation here. This has been something people have known for 5 years now.. and nothing was done. You're pointing to one case and saying "Well, this is it", but it's not.

Also, there's no evidence of falsifying emails by "The Democrats", by which I'm going to assume you mean some large scale effort by the party.

proof of DEMOCRATS falsifying emails? Besides an image file from Style which is not linked to Democrats?

Also, trusting Hastert? Sorry he's caught up in an (probably) illegal land deal to gain money for himself...I'm not believing him...

Here is Drudge on the sex scandal:

Apparently, the 16 year olds were "egging him on" and they are the real criminals here

There is somewhat of a reason for him to be doing this, not just because he is morally bankrupt, its because his homosexuality is the worst kept DC secret and naturally is involved with 18 year guys who are much younger than him so this hits a little too close to home for him...so I'm not gonna call him a total douchebag on this

Well, I'm pretty sure it wasn't republicans or their supporters that made them.

Like I said before, it's not above Democrats (not necessarily party officials) to forge things. They did it with the 60 Minute documents to make Bush look bad.

It's not above any political to forge anything, your point is illogical

But speculation and conjecture are not good points for a discussion, they are what throw a thread offtrack

Maybe Republicans did make them to confuse the issue and bring in people like you to say "hey, well he may of quit over this, but maybe it was fake!"

I still don't see how anything has been proven to be forged.

There were different punctuations and whatnot, but the exact same words. I don't see anyone refuting the words.

Oh yeah, and to help dispel the "Democratic coverup, note two facts:

"I said we're not making any deals," Ross recalls.

"I was outraged to learn that the House Republican leadership kept to itself the knowledge of Mr. Foley's despicable behavior toward the House Pages.

"I am now equally outraged to learn that Republican House Speaker Dennis Hastert announced today that there will be changes in the policies of the House Page program. Once again, I was not informed of the meeting today, nor was I consulted in any way about any proposed changes.

"And once again, the House Republican leadership is following the same pattern of unilateral decision-making that caused this problem in the first place in the Mark Foley issue. Speaker Hastert's announcement this afternoon is yet another example of the House Republican leadership being more concerned with finding political cover for themselves than with the safety and wellbeing of the House pages."

Wouldn't that be the Republicans? I mean, running the country and all. I seem to remember them being in the majority and pretty much controlling every decision that's been made.

They all help run it, to an extent. If they didn't, the minority would just stay home.

Personally I don't believe that is true, but it's open for interpretation at this point and there really shouldn't be any ifs ands or buts with this. The guy resigned and admitted himself into rehab. Why are we finding different versions of the same e-mails?

About Republicans, here is conservative Republican Scarborough:

Where was the Republican leadership over the past year? They knew of Mark's inappropriate e-mails to a former page but never informed Democratic leaders so they could warn those pages they had brought to Washington.

How could the Speaker of the House not remember being told by the Chairman of the Republican Congressional Committee that Foley had been confronted with his inappropriate e-mails to a male intern? Does this happen so often in Congress that it was no big deal to Denny Hastert?

The fact that Republicans allowed Mark Foley to continue as Chairman of the Committee on Missing and Exploited Children is terrible. The fact that they let him lead the charge on a bill to stop the exploitation of minors on the Internet is unpardonable
