I'm sure it's real. But they're obviuosly edited. The Xxxxxxxx was changed.

The legitimacy of the "online" version is likely in question. I doubt it isn't legit though. I just hope this guy doesn't resign and get out of criminal charges being brought against him for this.

Did the Republican leadership really try and cover this up? Seriously? That's very difficult to believe.

Covering this up would be monumentally stupid. Obviously Watergate and the Clinton sex scandal has taught them nothing, if they really did try and cover this up.

I find it almost impossible to accept that people could really do something that dangerous to their own party. Trying to cover this up would be so incredibly risky, I can't believe a person with even a drop of common sense would even consider considering it.

What's that old line about being caught with a dead girl or a live boy? Sheesh...

The democratic party leadership did not try to cover up an adult girl choosing to drink with a drunk man, and the people of MA chose him as the Dem nominee and they voted him into a senate term afterwards...the voters chose, not the party...and if anyone wants to argue that MA will elect any dem they are crazy...they went for Reagan in 80 and 84

I mean honestly, not only doesn't this compare (Byrd was not covering up for Kennedy) but its from 37 years ago...can we stretch anymore

if we're going to talk about the 60s can I bring up vietnam, US sponsored terrorism, Nixon, etc every time we talk about Republicans in the 06 elections?

Yea I hope he doesn't use his senatorial power to get out of this. I hope his home state is smarter than that and does a full investigation. If convicted I hope he gets punished to a degree that is worthy of the crime.

In this we agree, but a good majority of voting citizens vote republican on moral values alone. They do present themselves as the party of Moral Values.
