| Wouldn't/shouldn't they only respond if they were somehow related to him? Wouldn't/shouldn't they respond only if he was a 'devout Christian'? Do they comment on child abuses/molestation every single time it's brought up? I'm not really sure what you expect here... | ||||

| Ofcourse they are related to him, they all directly or indirectly donated money to help him win re-election. Also he is a devout Christian...and this just isn't any case...he was the deputy minority whip, a key position in the GOP house leadership which all those organizations work very hard for... | ||||

| 1) Christian right in United States politics - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia 2004 Representative Foley supported the interests of the Christian Coalition 84 percent in 2004. Project Vote Smart - Representative Foley - Interest Group Ratings 2) On CNN he was reported as a Christian and there is no evidence he did not take his religion as seriously as any other Christian...there is no "link" that can you anyone any "proof" of someone's "christianess" for all we know Bush worships Satan, we can only go by what people say 3) Foley resigns from Congress over e-mails - Yahoo! News Foley was a member of the Republican leadership, serving as a deputy whip. | ||||

| Ok, basic political facts here: The christian coalition, family research council, etc, puts in a huge amount of money and organization across the US, including Florida, and including FL-16, to continually re-elect Rep. Foley because he is a Republican Not only that, but Foley cited himself as a "deep catholic" and pushed for Christian programs Project Vote Smart - Public Statements Not only that, but Foley is a senior member of the GOP House Leadership...something the Christian Right pushes for hard and often, they supply GOTV efforts, influence church members to vote, etc To deny there is a link between the GOP House Leadership and the Christian Coalition (FRC and other Religious Right organizations) is something that should lose someone all credibility to speak on anything political ever again. | ||||

| No one cares about christians voting republican or any of that crap, maybe hindus vote green? who cares...also no one asked you to tell us all how great the republican party is I am talking about the huge GOTV, political fundraising, and political lobbying the Christian Right does on behalf of the Republican Party, and this effort is a significant relationship between GOP Congressional Leaders and Leaders of the Christian Religious Right Just say they do or they don't, its a simple question | ||||

| Ok, you just agreed they have a significant relationship with the GOP Congressional Leadership, as Deputy Whip Foley is at the top of the GOP House Leadership. Foley is a key member of that significant relationship...and the Religious Right has completely ignored his predator status. | ||||

I don't know what they think, maybe they think its ok because conservatives christians care more about winning seats than the Bible They certainly haven't spoken out against Foley's actions, maybe they condone them because he kept the seat Republican. After all the most powerful figure in the Religious Right of the 1990s, Ralph Reed, was involved with bribery cases with Jack Abramoff...maybe its all a scam? | ||||
