A) That a Republican was making the moves on a 16 year old boy?

B) Finding out that the Democrats were hiding additional information and gave it to ABC right before the elections to give it the biggest impact?

I'm thinking they would be about the same.

Foley making the moves on this kid is disgusting and him resigning is best for this country. If something he did was illegal then he should be procescuted as well.

If the Democrats were hiding information they let a predator stay in a position of power and allowed him to maybe make more moves on more young men. That would be equally disgusting.

I am thinking about 80/20. Democrats would look fairly foolish and hypocritical to hold the information. At the same time, as soon as this stuff was known Foley should have resigned.. like waaay earlier. If he did resign way earlier they would have been forced to jump on the story. At most i would consider what democrats did "shady", but the responsibility still should sit mostly on mr. masturbator's shoulders.

If a pedophile was free to do his stuff because Democrats wanted to wait a year so it would be closer to the election, I think that would be a pretty big deal.

Please provide any shread of proof that the Democrats sat on info. If you want to say ABC had info, that's fine. They aren't the Democrats.

I seriously doubt the Democrats would sit on something like that... Politics aside, general human decency would compel them to protect innocent youth I think. I mean come on, the people in the House and Senate ARE people.

That said, if some dispicable piece of shit DID sit on it for political gain... They should go to prison right alongside Foley (if they bother to try him for indecency with a child), imo.

Everything I read said that Hastert had the "mild" non-sexual IM. He forbid contact between Foley and the child and the childs parents didn't want anything else to come of it. From what I know he did the right thing.

Of course, this is still breaking and we may find out more and different things as time goes on.

The people who knew about this and did nothing to protect their party should go down as well.

I don't think either is really a scandal. A scandal to me requires a group of persons conspiring to do something illegal - this seems like one guy who's got a nasty problem and acted on it.

I agree. Anyone that knew this was happening and sat on it, be it for late political gain or to avoid political loss, should face charges.

They're both wrong. I don't know if pedophilia pertains to 16 year olds. If he didn't want to have those IMs he could very easily have put him on his ignore list.

Isn't 16 age of consent in his state? He was old enough to know better.

I'm not saying this to take any blame off Foley. But to me pedophiles are people praying on kids who don't know any better. I don't think I've ever heard a pedophile referenced to 16 year olds before. Disturbed yes. Pedophile.. ehh

Isn't it federal law that's applicable to this email business? I don't think there are any accusations of in person wrongs, were there? Would the laws Foley helped write eventually acquit him?

If the BOY was 18 and which would make him an adult then thats between them...but at age 16, this is disturbing.

I agree. I hope he gets charged with something. I hope there's a full investigation and if guilty I hope there is actually some justice in this case.
