I'm not going to say people who are not well off are in that situation because it is thier own fault, but poor decisions keep them there. Either through lack of knowledge or social constraints. I'm by no means poor, but I'm not rich either. The reason I am not well on my way is over last 2 months I spent: $550 going out to dinner $400 on alcohol and pubs (Damn Australian Taxes) $500 or so on petrol $800 on on other car expenses $2500 or so on "stuff" i wanted (new bed, mobile phone)

| Things change over time, different skills are needed. People son't pay according to the need of the employee, but according to the value provided and how that fits with supply and demand | ||||

| Ridiculous statement?? What kind of facts do you want?? I stated an opinion. If the Lowe's and the Home Depot's and the other large retail outlets adopt Walmarts policies, you will see more and more poverty. So the divide grows. If you dont think the middle class is in jeopardy then you are living in a bubble. Im also a responsible individual who has to get up and go to work tomorrow, and damn this site,,,, I have stayed up past my bed time again. I dont have time to go trolling for facts for you right now, so let me get back atcha. | ||||

Necessaties include, Food, Shelter, and medicine. The problem is, is that alot of the jobs that people with little or no education, or what might be what we consider on the "bottom" of the work pyramid, don't have the kind of jobs they used to because of technology and outsourcing. This is creating a huge gap, and that is really not good for society. It's the result of capatalism, and that maybe the economic freedom many believe is a part of our culture and our tradition, but, it comes with a price, and this is that price.

A Middle Class, which I believe everyone here is, is essentially for a functioning economy, isn't it? Or do we just need the bossman, and the proles?

| I don't think anyone is trying to insinuate that there will be abolishment of a working poor. But, at one time it was possible to have a working poor that didn't need societal programs, what happened to that? They used them and went off them because there was an opportunity to move up, even if the person was uneducated and poor. Just because someone is uneducated, doesn't mean that they are stupid or incapable. Many times Job skills are acquired by time. But, the job skills the working poor used to rely on, are now done by machine, or 5 year old Chinese Children. Some call that the "market" or Capatalism....others look at that and call it a widening gap. | ||||

Guess the people see Walmart as better then the alternative. Why does the company have to pay for it ?
