ALBUQUERQUE - A spokeswoman for Republican gubernatorial candidate John Dendahl was physically assaulted Wednesday, a hospital spokesman said.

Paige McKenzie was in critical condition at the University of New Mexico Hospital, said spokesman Sam Giammo.

No other details were immediately available.

Dendahl faces Gov. Bill Richardson in the Nov. 7 general election.
