| This is a close one for me and with enough good arguments I might change my mind. But really, if you can't speak or read English, should you really be voting? | ||||

I don't see the need for multi lingual ballots

| If the district is made up by people, the people pay the taxes, it should reflect whatever language the district speaks. | ||||

As such, I completely agree with bilingual voting, and also we should grant amnesty so all those people can vote

| Municipalities should not be forced one way or the other. Let them handle it themselves. If they want them bilingual, fine. If not, too bad for the people who can't read it. | ||||

| I think ballots should be printed on the day of the election. Mock them up in as many languages as is necessary and have some number of each available. As the "Indo-chechnyan tabouli" stack gets low print up a few more. I also think it's a bad thing to "require" english seeing as it's not the official language..............BUT, I'd be all for making it the official language and requiring everything to happen in english. | ||||

| If people need them in another language and they have the right to vote, I don't see why we should be hesitant about providing ballots in another language. We have no official language, so | ||||

| And that's the part I disagree with. Every other country shows some sort of distaste when we go to their country and make no attempt to learn their language; we too often expect them to know English. The French are a prime example of this. Why can't we as Americans expect the same from others, especially those that want to be a true part of the country? What is it, 7 yrs as a resident before you can actually vote? If someone doesn't know English after living here that long, something is wrong. | ||||

| I agree since we have no official language...if they want a special ballet they should be able to get one. If our official language was english, then no, it should be in all english. That being said I think our official language should be english and that all ballets should be in english. | ||||

| How many of the first generation Italian, etc, that come over here really integrated fully into the culture? Didn't it take a generation or two before those groups of people really integrated enough to be looked at as an immigration success story? I'm not fully against an "official language", it could save money for documents being printed in multiple languages, etc.. but as long as we don't have one, we should probably provide people with the right to vote documents they're capable of reading. | ||||

| If memory serves me correctly... if you are not born in mexico you can't vote for president in their country. Even if you become a citizen. Not to mention you need to earn 40,000 times the average daily wage in mexico city to become a citizen, and you are not eligable to own beach front property. | ||||
