Yeah. I actually used to have no problem with NK, and had a hard time understanding why they fear the rest of the world. Then I realized that it is a way for them to control their people, and gain resources. The people have a common enemy and band together. The country makes threats to the world, and the world rewards it with gifts.

My biggest fear today is that when the gifts get cut off, the country will sell or use its chemical or nuclear weapons.

There's been some speculation that they may have even already sold some such materials to the Burmese gov't, although a nuclear Myanmar is probably far less of a threat.

All that's good and wonderful except for the plain and simple fact North Korea can NOT nuke us. Not only do they NOT have missiles that can hit us...they don't have the ability to put nukes on them nor can they shrink nukes to the size needed for such a feat. So let's recap. Their missiles = fail. Their weaponized nukes = fail. Why exactly should I fear them? Oh, that's right..."Axis of evil" and what not...they are just in some room somewhere huddled with Bin Laden selling him nukes. This isn't a Jean Claude Van Dam movie.

Myanmar is the largest nation in Indochina and has been controlled by a military junta since 1962.

Myanmar sure has little to lose, especially the military leadership that has been under increasing pressure from the people. Kind of like Pakistan. We suppossed to fill good that their nuclear threat is in the hands of their military leadership, mostly trained in the US, and loyal at the moment. Of course the very seeds of North Korea and Iran's nuclear programs come from where?

Matter of fact, since that terrible populist dictator they got took over, why they sell the majority of their oil for either yen or euros. He made three billion dollars on the exchange rate along before he started hiding in spider holes.

North Korea does have missiles that can reach us. Don't believe the rumors otherwise. They are rumors. They may not be able to hit us with precision, but they are capable of reaching us. Sure, if you are in South Carolina, they will not be able to get to you, but if you are in one of our closer territories, they might be able to. They may not be able to hit us with certain missiles, but they have stuff that can hit us. Missiles are not the only vehicles that can carry such a weapon, believe it or not.

Nukes are not even their worst weapons. They have weapons that will do much more damage than nukes.

We don't fully know their capabilities. Let's not set ourselves up for another Pearl Harbor type scenario because a few naysayers think that when nations threaten to go to war with us we should believe they are incapable of harming us. If we learned anything from September 11 it should be that were are not as isolated and difficult to attack as we think.

Obama is free to ignore North Korea rather than approach them directly and escalate the situation, but it is not in our best interest to pretend a problem doesn't exist. That's just dangerous ignorance. We should be paying close attention to North Korea right now and we should do whatever it takes to protect our nation.

Wow. First off, "threaten us to go to war" is a bit of an overstatement. People seem to have a knack of telling us "you attack us, we will destroy you." I see nothing wrong with that since we have a track record that says "we will attack you preemptively." Second, when was the last time a country attacked us?

I have personally spoken with experts who claim North Korea definately can hit us with a devastaing weapon. Of course, these people are high ranking officials in the DoD and military. I doubt you would take any of them seriously.

We will easily defeat them, but wouldn't be so ignorant to assume that they can't inflict any damage to us and our allies.
