Its hard to imagine a more lightweight action that this.
However, as she hasnt really made it clear why shes going it strikes me that the media might be up for the honour

I mean, were I a tabloid reporter I'd be smelling blood here & would be asking a rapid series of incredibly impertinant questions framed to allow only yes/no answers. The aim being to force her to reveal her reasons.

Her 'lame duck' excuse is pathetic.

Were I a betting man I'd go for her being 'blackmailed' out of office

As one who has actually lived in Alaska I would ask you to not use quite so broad a brush to describe those who call it home. There are plenty of hardworking people supporting theselves just fine in Alaska. Unlike the fine state of Michigan where I now live.

I wish I had more time to talk about this, but I'm right back out the door.

This is really great. Sarah Palin commits political hari-kari. Only Nixon so publically ended his career and came back, and Palin lacks vital characteristics that Nixon had, namely tenacity and intellect. He was also able to court the Republican establishment, while Palin has seemingly bent over backwards to alienate the same.

Interesting stuff.

Go Sarah go? Where is she going? Seems she quit the office that was at least giving her some experience in politics. Leaving it can't be good for her political career.

I see we agree here. I think it's pathetic if she's not leaving politics completely. What happens if she is made VP or god forbid...President? She'll quit when she finds something better to do? And as far as her quitting reasons go...either you're in it to win it and you have the fortitude to take all the criticism or you don't...and you continually cry about being picked on.

Palin was elected to the governorship of Alaska. Now that she has became a national political figure, well the Demoncrats sent in a virtual army of lawyers to dig into Palin's past for possible dirt.

Since that time Palin has been the focus of SIXTEEN, got that, SIXTEEN ethic investigations, and every damn one of them turned up NADA. In her office, EVEN TODAY, the phone rings constantly concerning everything from comments from late night comedians to the marriage of her oldest child. That leaves little time for the work that she was elected to.

Funny, all those investigations concerning stupid shit--the library in Wasilla, a crazed state trooper, Palin's wardrobe--and yet nothing concerning her work on the Alaskan budget--from negotiated cuts in spending to negotiated increases in revenue via the windfall profits tax on oil companies.

Stupid, stupid shit. Can't blame her for stepping down. Honestly, it was a courageous move that put the people of Alaska first, not Sarah Palin. Imagine that, someone putting the PEOPLE first. That sure as hell ain't no way to get elected. You got to put YOURSELF first, like Obama.

Nope, Sarah should have got elected and then promptly sold her soul to the business establishement. Do it Obama style--get rid of everyone on the ballot first, then get elected making false promises. For his state senate seat--it was single payor healthcare that he promised. After elected, he promptly dropped that agenda in favor of one structured by the private insurance companies. He also was a strong supporter of energy deregulation California style, and that cost the people of Illionois MILLIONS of dollars in overcharges.

Then, he won the senate seat. His first action, form a PAC. His second, open the Hamilton project. Those two steps enabled him to raise an enourmous amount of money before even announcing his running for president. That money was spent on MARKETING--the Obama campaign spent more money on MARKETING than McDonalds. If Americans can be convinced to eat Argentina hamburgers and fake chicken nuggets they can be convinced to elect damn near anyone with enough money.

I don't think money will be the most important thing that wil make or break the next election. When Sarah Palin gets her steam up and starts giveing speechs the people will follow her to the ends of everywhere. Experence, shes got more than most and does it matter? Even I can sit in an office surrounded with advisers, come out looking experenced and give orders. Speeking and holding peoples attention is all Sarahs. Hell obama has to use a tellapropter. Bidden can't get anything right. So your looking at a pied piper in Sarah Palin. She will walk away with the crowd while obama is trying to pronounce his next word. Just think of how many people watched Sarah Palin announce she was stepping down as Govenor. How many? How many are still talking about it? No matter who is for or against her, their still talking about her. That means they arn't talking about anything else. Just Sarah Palin. The name Sarah Palin is being repeated over and over again. Sarah Palin. Get it.. Sarah Palin is no quitter she hasn't even begun.

It's not putting anyone first but herself. To see it any other way is ridiculous. Her reasoning was beyond pathetic. She couldn't take the heat of being a public figure...even though she's the one sticking her face out there for all to see. Then she COMPLETELY lets the people of Alaska down by fucking quitting? Are you serious? Just because you're not running again doesn't mean you have to quit...nor does it mean you are a "lame duck" and not accomplishing anything. A lot of people in office accomplished alot...including Ronald the Great...during their last year.

She's pathetic and this move...if she doesn't mean for it to end her public and political career...will do it. And I for one am glad.
