You're right. They weren't until the union thugs were sent to act as "security".

I mean, look at how violent these people are that are against the health care bill.

they glossed over the 8 month (now closer to 12) for dental visits

as well as the 2+ month wait to see a doctor, and then another couple of months to see a specialist. Yes the costs are cheaper, because they provide less services with inferior staff.

Infection Fears From Dirty Veteran's Hospital Equipment

Posted on: Sunday, 26 April 2009, 07:10 CDT

Several months after being told that they would need to get blood tests for HIV and hepatitis, thousands of veterans are growing increasingly frustrated as government officials refuse to share any additional information about the troubling warnings.

On Friday, officials from the Department of Veterans Affairs announced that another veteran had tested positive for HIV after undergoing an endoscopic procedure in a government-run hospital. According to reports, nearly 11,000 former servicemen might have been exposed to infectious diseases after it was discovered last year that several VA hospitals had not been properly cleaning endoscopic equipment between patients. Friday’s case brings the total to four veterans who have been infected with HIV after endoscopic procedures at hospitals in Miami, Murfreesboro, Tennessee, and Augusta, Georgia.

The veteran’s agency also reported a new hepatitis infection, adding one more to the 25 already confirmed cases. Officials fear that the number of infected soldiers could grow as some 4,270 veterans have still not been tested.

Other than these few bare numbers, the VA has shared no additional information with either the press or the former servicemen, including whether or not patients of its other 150 hospitals ought to get blood tests.
great care

1-2 people being infected would be an anecdotal story, that isn't the case here. It is was a system wide problem.

When you're dealing with the types of injuries the VA has to deal with, to only have a minor infection problem is a miracle. It's called "modern medicine" and the VA is leading the way in the field of amputee care and violent injury care. It's a shame you'd shit on the system you may use full time one day. You're dishonoring the soldiers that have been cared for and the ones doing the caring.

So what? OMG don't waste your life away waiting those few days to get your enema.

You're the type that will wait for years to go to a Dr then complain you have to wait a week to see him? Get over it.

Yeah! So what!!! My wife called her doctor yesterday at 8am and got to see her at 11am. 30-60 day wait is fine. It's not a problem at all.

Democrats just have a different idea of good. If it's their idea, and makes things worse, it's still a good idea.

The big one, those over 65 that are under the care of the VA instead of Medicare Advantage plans have a 40% lower risk of death. Medicare Advantage plans offer about the same 40% lower risk of death as oppossed to traditional Medicare alone, and yet the VA does it at a cheaper cost AND with much greater patient satisfaction.

I had the same wait time at my doc whether it was gov ins or private ins. Today for immediate concerns, 1-4 weeks for non-immediate, 3-6 months for non-immediate procedures.

You mean like this,

A former surgery technician may have exposed thousands of Colorado patients to hepatitis C when she swapped her own dirty syringes for ones filled with a powerful narcotic, officials said.

Newsvine - Up to 6,000 exposed to hepatitis at hospital
Better, try this,

"A definitive review and close reading of medical peer-review journals, and government health statistics shows that American medicine frequently causes more harm than good. The number of people having in-hospital, adverse drug reactions (ADR) to prescribed medicine is 2.2 million. Dr. Richard Besser, of the CDC, in 1995, said the number of unnecessary antibiotics prescribed annually for viral infections was 20 million. Dr. Besser, in 2003, now refers to tens of millions of unnecessary antibiotics. The number of unnecessary medical and surgical procedures performed annually is 7.5 million. The number of people exposed to unnecessary hospitalization annually is 8.9 million. The total number of iatrogenic deaths shown in the following table is 783,936. It is evident that the American medical system is the leading cause of death and injury in the United States. The 2001 heart disease annual death rate is 699,697; the annual cancer death rate, 553,251.

Medical system is leading cause of death and injury in US - Health Supreme
And this is the system that people prefer?

Where are you? My wife got an appointment in 4 hours yesterday. And they saw her right away.

I have had to wait a few hours before for an unscheduled visit, but never weeks.
