| He then had critical remarks for Black Christians seeming inability to create positive social change for the urban population he was referring to saying "I’m telling you Christians, what’s wrong with you? Why can’t you hit the streets? Why can’t you clean it out yourselves?" Pound Cake Speech - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia | ||||

| Personally I am not disqualifying him from anything because of his race. It all ties back to my response to JaJae. The republican party is associated to a group of people, even bush said it. "Some call you the elite, I call you my base". At that point Steele becomes associated to them and leaves black people behind. This is when he becomes disqualified from representing black people, as percieved by most black people. | ||||

context context context They are saying (rightfully so) that he is using 19th style strategies that are not going to help the 21st century black community, and it is blacks saying this...that is not racism! If he was a Republican like...Lincoln Chafee, but more focused on black issues, then I'd be against calling him Uncle Tom, even by blacks, BECAUSE THAT'S NOT THE CORRECT TERM Being Republican in and of itself is not being an Uncle Tom...however, the actions he has taken has caused some blacks to label him as such...i still can't find one reasonable argument why blacks SHOULDN'T call him Uncle Tom if they believe he is such

| A lot of programs that were established are reliant on federal funding. Funding that goes other places when republicans are in control of federal governments. | ||||

| He's saying black people are too lazy or morally inept to go out and clean the streets...how much more racist can you get? To use your wise examples, what if I went to a bar and said "hey, you guys aren't cleaning up your streets, what is wrong with you people?" You think I'd get a round of applause? | ||||

Everything I am saying is in a general sense. There are exceptions but they are certainly not the rule. Picking one more black guy out that supports Steele does not change that 95% of other black people support democrats because they feel democrats are closer to supporting their interests.

| This whole issue comes from the republican party nominating a black person, who claims to represent black peoples interests, but doesnt. Some black people will simply vote for him because he is black, regardless of the views. This is where republicans are accused of putting up a black guy to take some of the black vote off the democrat ticket. Combine that with the fact republicans are associated to rich white upper 1% people and this is where "uncle tom" comes in from some people. | ||||

HE CRITICIZED THE ENTIRE BLACK COMMUNITY AS HAVING A PROBLEM...THATS THE DEFINITION OF RACISM But again, if a black man thinks a candidate is falsely saying he reprents his community's views, when in fact he is opposed by 95% of his community, and that black man wants to label the black politician as someone who is using outdated tactics his current community doesn't like...now that man is a racist?
