| Cheney unsure of GOP control of Congress AP - President Bush says flatly that Republicans will keep control of the House and Senate in the November elections. Vice President Dick Cheney doesn't sound quite so certain. "I think we'll hold the Senate and I also think we got a good shot at holding the House," the vice president said Tuesday in an interview with radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh. In the House, Democrats need a 15-seat pickup to gain control. In the Senate, they need six. Cheney was asked if he felt frustrated that Republicans are speculating on how may House seats they might lose. "Well, I think it's a natural, normal situation at this stage," Cheney said. "But I really think we're going to do reasonably well. ... I think the key will be who goes to the polls on Election Day." The vice president said that "it's always tough when you're in the midterm of your second presidential term in office. Historically, those are the most difficult elections for the incumbents in the White House." Last edited by motivez; 10-17-2006 at 07:30 PM.. | ||||
