Two interviews today....smartmoney.com, red state the movie

I'm interviewing ray hennessey (CNBC viewers will know him). He's the editor of smartmoney.com. The segment is on personal saving and investing. A few questions so far:

--With the DOW at a new high, does it make sense for new amateur investors to enter the market at this point with money they’ve been saving?
--Simple and most convenient ways for the average person to create some money every month to put into savings.
--Where to put savings right now, i.e. are ING/emigrant/hsbc/other banks paying around 5% the best bet?
--With these 5% savings accounts available, does it even make sense to invest in a CD for SLIGHTLY higher APR since you have to tie up your money for X amount of time?
--Who should still beu sing a full service broker given that there are so many discount brokers available for trading much more inexpensively.
-------------------

Interviewing the producer/director/star of Welcome to Redstate the Movie!

Any questions for him?

with a softening real estate market but the dow at record highs, is it time to invest in vacation/rental property?

PLEASE ask this....I have a wad of cash and need to figure out if I'm tearing down part of my house and adding 1200 sq ft to it or if I should buy a condo on the beach in maine.
