Midweek Politics with David Pakman - 09.02.2009

A new story entry has been added:

[drupal=113]Midweek Politics with David Pakman - 09.02.2009[/drupal]

This Week on Midweek Politics with David Pakman

September 2nd, 2009

Produced by

David Pakman, WXOJ, Northampton, MA
Louis Motamedi, WXOJ, Northampton, MA
Total Running Time: 57:18

This Week's Topics:

--The launch of Midweek Politics TV for YouTube and cable access community television stations.

--Ted Kennedy's funeral and wake, and the upcoming special election to fill his Senate seat, including talk about his widow, Vicky Kennedy, possibly filling the role.

--Barack Obama's approval is down below 50 percent in most polls, while almost half of all Americans think randomly-picked names out of a phone book could do a better job of running Congress than the current group in Washington. What has to happen, when will Obama's presidency begin being called a total failure, and more.

--The health care outlook, including the possibility of a prime time press conference of oval office speech from Obama, as well as whether or not no public option would mean failure for Obama no matter what.

--Congressman Wally Herger praises a self-proclaimed right wing terrorist at his health care town hall, while anti-health care reform audience members at a Democrat's llinois town hall boo Ted Kennedy when he is mentioned.

--A right wing radio host says that with Ted Kennedy's passing, 16 yeard olds are now free from his sexual advances.

--GOP Chairman Michael Steele says the government would do health care ten times worse than private industry, but think that the same government should be looking into health insurers and determining how to best govern them.

--Maria Bartiromo tries to play gotcha with Anthony Weiner and health care, forgetting that he's 44 and you can't have Medicare until you are 65.

--Attorney General Eric Holder announces that he will investigate the CIA over alleged abuse of detainees, and has put Republican John H. Durham in charge.

--What we know about torture, the CIA, and detainees.

--Dick Cheney comments about whether he would cooperate with the investigation, and of course says he does not think it is a necessary investigation.

--Former Attorney General Alberto Gonzalez says he agrees with the investigation, while John McCain does not.

--Abortion doctor George Tiller's murdered, Scott Roeder, may plead justifiable homicide.

--Death threats against Barack Obama have increase by over 400 percent from the 3000 during George W. Bush's last year in office.

--A former Secret Service agent says gospel of hate preacher Steve Anderson certainly was interviewed during a visit by Secret Service.

--The companies doing the most radio advertising.

--Glenn Beck brings on a black guy who agrees with him to prove he isn't racist, but then the guy claims the proposed health care reform would include components for eugenics and black genocide.

--William Donohue says that atheists are the ones out to get Catholics, not mentioning that pedophile priests have played a huge part in the recent demise of the Catholic Church.

--Tucker Carlson is brought on Fox News to comment on sexual orientation-based assaults, although he previously admitted to assaulting a man who bothered him in a bathroom.

--Much more...

Wait! You forgot one!

Newly-filed disclosures show that Charlie Rangel failed to report at least half a million dollars in assets in 2007. They also show that his net worth is between $1 million and $2.5 million, or about twice what he claimed in 2008.

Here is something else you might want to talk about, you can include it with the other topic about Rangel.

CBS 2 HD has discovered that since ethics probes began last year the 79-year-old congressman has given campaign donations to 119 members of Congress, including three of the five Democrats on the House Ethics Committee who are charged with investigating him.
He is giving money to the people that are investigating him. This, surely, is worth discussing on your program.

I watched a reporter on CBS news talking about filling Kennedy's seat and how must states allow the Governor to choose a replacement and that MA needs a new Senator quickly because of all the bills that need to be passed. Of course, she never mentioned that it was the Democrats that CHANGED the law because Romney was Governor. I wonder if David will mention it

edit: Oh hell, the show is already taped. Well, maybe next week.
