So are all the other rules I listed.

Or three people marrying ?

Nothing. It's not okay to tell consenting adults what they can and can't do based on religious morality.

Marriage has nothing to do with religious moraility, otherwise divorce wouldnt exist.

Marriage is a govt benefit and the govt can decide who qualifies for the benefit.

The Government is not allowed to discriminate on the basis of race, sexuality, hair color, etc.

They can't tell a gay person they're not allowed to get a drivers license because they're gay. A marriage license should be no different for people simply because their sexual orientation is unacceptable to a small but angry religious minority.

Govt doesnt stop a gay man from getting married though.

Marriage license application, dont see any question there that asking who you like to screw.

That logic is nonsensical in relation to what we're talking about and I wont spend more time debunking it yet again.

It prevents them from marrying a person of the same sex, thus it's discrimination.

Again, the Government may not discriminate against people based on the color of their skin or sexuality. Show me where they have the right to deny someone a drivers license because of their sexual orientation, and then tell me why a marriage license is so different.

Just as there is discrimination against cousins getting married, or three people getting married etc...

Again, the Government may not discriminate against people based on the color of their skin or sexuality. Show me where they have the right to deny someone a drivers license because of their sexual orientation, and then tell me why a marriage license is so different.
Again there is no discrimination against people because of their sexual orientation. A gay man can marry the same person as a straight man.

Of course there's discrimination. I don't know why your ridiculous argument is brought up time and time again like it makes any sense. It doesn't. None, whatsoever.

A gay man can not marry a person of his choosing. A straight man can. Thus, there is discrimination based on sexuality. The Government is discriminating against those who would like to enter into a contractual agreement with someone of the same sex.

It really doesn't get any more simple than that.

Also, you failed to answer my question.

Show me where it's legal for the Government to discriminate against someone based on their race or sexuality. Show me where they're able to tell a gay man that he's not able to obtain a drivers license because he's gay.

So if I want to marry a guy, I can just because I am straight ?

I guess you could/should if you wanted to, but why would you do that if you weren't gay? Why should a man marry a woman if he's gay?

Sure, but as you well know, that's not where the inequality exists. Gays want to marry for the same reasons/desires straights wish to. It's really not that complicated to comprehend.

Nothing at all. If a bunch of legal adults want to enter into a legal contract deciding their cohabitation arrangements and then throw a party to celebrate, they should be allowed to do so in any way they choose..and call the arrangement by whatever name they wish, including marriage.

The only reason gay marriage is such an issue is because it is another case of religious conservatives' intolerance of social evolution. I wonder if their convictions are so weak that they cannot withstand even the passive conflict others bring just by THINKING contradictorily. Censoring media, banning books, burning more intelligent people than they at the stake, preaching hatred...they're all part of this problem. Those who are truely convinced of their faith would not need to do any of these things, nor would they need to try and get government to force others into compliance.

Yeah. Because helping a friend get health care is the worst thing that a person can do. I mean, because health care that's affordable is everywhere. And if those queers use the MARRIAGE card to help eachother get healthcare, well, then more people will have health care. And we can't have that.

If something is not going to be allowed it needs to be worse than that.

So? as it stands now, two friends, one male and one female, could conceivably stage the same sham, right? Honestly, unless one of them was on their deathbed and needed care to save their life, a scheme like this wouldn't be worth the effort and sacrifice. Sorry man, but this is a weak excuse.

Anyway, my original reasoning stands.. If heteros get those privileges/freedoms under law, then so should gays.
