Oh look, more Republican fear mongering.

BREITBART.COM - GOP to Air Ad Warning of Terror Attacks

The Republican Party will begin airing a hard-hitting ad this weekend that warns of more cataclysmic terror attacks against the U.S. homeland.

The ad portrays Osama bin Laden and quotes his threats against America dating to February 1998. "These are the stakes," the ad concludes. "Vote November 7."

Brian Jones, a spokesman for the Republican National Committee, said the ad would run on national cable beginning Sunday, but he declined to discuss specifics of the buy.

The commercial tracks with Republican Party strategy to make the war on terrorism a central theme of this election. It will air as recent polls show Republicans losing ground as the party best able to combat terrorism.

Last month, President Bush made the war against terrorism a recurrent topic in public appearances. But his message was drowned out by the e- mail sex scandal involving former Republican Rep. Mark Foley of Florida and by increasing fatalities in Iraq.

The ad displays an array of quotes from bin Laden and his top lieutenant, Ayman al-Zawahri, that include bin Laden's Dec. 26, 2001 vow that "what is yet to come will be even greater."

The ad also cites al-Zawahri's claim to have obtained "some suitcase bombs," followed by a scene that appears to show a nuclear explosion.

Despite al-Zawahri's claim, portable nuclear devices are believed to be particularly difficult to produce and elusive to rogue regimes and terror groups.

The ad is also featured on the RNC's Web site. The party said the ad, called "The Stakes," will be e-mailed to millions of GOP supporters, activists and the state parties.

Democrats denounced the ad as scaremongering.

"This is a pathetic move by an increasingly desperate GOP," said Democratic National Committee Communications Director Karen Finney. "Clearly Republicans are so afraid of their abysmal record they can't offer one example of what they've done to keep America safe."

Former U.S. Navy Vice Admiral Joe Sestak, a Democratic congressional candidate running against incumbent Rep. Curt Weldon, R-Pa., said the war in Iraq has made Americans less safe. "It's disturbing that the Republicans in Washington are trying to reinvent history with this latest message of fear," he said.
That's right folks. The GOP thinks you are the stupidest people alive. They think you have a short term memory.

Forget that they've bungled the Iraq war.
Forget that America is less safe because of that bungling.
Forget that they've left Afghanistan in a degrading state.
Forget that their incompetence allowed Osama escape.
Forget that they haven't secured the borders.
Forget that they haven't secured the ports.
Forget that though the terrorists hate us for our freedom, one of their primary objectives is to restrict that freedom.
Forget that they've shit all over the Constitution time and time again to increase their own power.

And most of all, forget that this is the same sorry tactic that they've been using every 2 years right before an election in hopes that you're stupid enough to believe that they're the only ones who'll protect you, especially given their piss poor record of actually doing anything.

Make sure when you go to the polls this November 7th, you're scared enough to vote Republican!

If this is the october surprise, im sorely disappointed

its not going to work this time, people aren't voting on the president so "Bushie is still protectin' us" and its not 2002 where everyone was convinced dozens of terrorists attacks were around the corner

Good.

Lets remind everyone that OBL is out there and we have essentially given up on finding him.

Not exactly the smartest campaign move. If they run this ad I think it will blow up in their face. People are aware of the fear mongering and are getting sick of it. This is not the way to win over the independent voters.

How dare they respond to the Democrats continued pounding an no offer of any workable solutions. Do you think we haven't gone over your misrepresentations above enough? Vote for who you think does or will do the best job.

Clinton conducted mroe illegal wiretaps than the republican bush administration. Yet you want democrats back in?

Democrats are free to write bills to increase the security of the nation and they haven't done it. Instead they go on and on about how bad the economy is, how bad the war is, how they've gotta secure the border, but then they gut the border bills, how they have ot secure the ports, but they never offer any solutions, no bills, no resolutions, no nothing. Just talk...when a democrat had the presidency he conducted more illegal wiretaps, violated civil liberties and yet you wanna hand things back over to the party that has had just as many if not more violations of the constitution?

Nobody knows the future, all we have to go by is past actions to attempt to predict the future. I agree though. Both parties suck equally.

It is certainly a factor. However assuming that a party now, made up of different people in different circumstances will act the same isn't really that accurate.

People will find evidence to support the position that the party always does the same thing, but this often ignores counter-examples.

There is a difference between a threat existing and trying to scare people with it.

Thanks to retarded scare tactics people actually think they are likey to get killed by terrorists even though this is, in fact, highly unlikley

How can you possibly know that?

The current programs details are secret.

As far as I knew, Clintons followed FISA.

whats the difference? If there is a terrorist attack tommorow, the democrats will come out and say that Bush did not do enough to prevent a terrorist attack.

I think the fear mongering will eventually be counter productive. People become used to it. "yeah yeah the terrorists want to kill us.. what's new?"

We hear about it so much that it begins to lose it's meaning.

You're right. We just diverted the vast majority of our troops and resources away from finding him. Big difference.
