Lieberman up by 17 points

Poll: Lieberman lead grows in Conn. - Politics - MSNBC.com
HAMDEN, Conn. - Sen. Joe Lieberman has built a 17-point lead over Democratic challenger Ned Lamont, according to the first Quinnipiac University poll since the two faced off in a debate this week.

Lieberman, running as an independent after losing the Aug. 8 Democratic primary to Lamont, leads the Greenwich businessman 52 percent to 35 percent among Connecticut likely voters in the poll released Friday. Republican Alan Schlesinger trailed with 6 percent, and 7 percent were undecided.
The results after the debates are in. Lieberman is up 17 points and leads 52% to 35%. It looks like Lieberman is a sure win for CT this Nov. Lamont just can't seem to pick up the independent voters. Lieberman is up 58% to 36% among independents and a huge margin over Republican voters (Lamont only gets 9%, much less than the 36% of Democrats voting for Lieberman).

So many on this forum had Lamont as a lock after the primaries. Quite interesting how this campaign turned out. All the dirty politics in the world couldn't smear Lieberman's record. I remember the argument repeatedly being thrown out was that Lieberman didn't understand CT voters and wasn't a man of the CT people, etc. Looks like Lamont is barely the man of the Democrats winning by a far less margin than Lieberman has locked on the other categories of likely voters.

I'm glad Lieberman is gonna get re-elected. He's a good guy and a strong politician. He's done a lot of great things for this country.

bleh, living in CT, I can tell you they're all a bunch of crooks. It's neat that he's gone cross party on things, but i still have issues with him:

1. voting to keep john bolton as UN rep. This guy basically guarantees the euros will continue to distrust us, which is unfortunate.
2. voting to regulate/censor media 'for the children.' I hate 'for the children' legislation because it's taken to nth degrees. In this particular case, he's almost as bad as Jack Thompson and the various religious coalitions..and he has just as little a clue about tech. market he's regulating (for example, has joe ever PLAYED a video game?)
3. israeli warhawk/support of iraq war, probably because of his religious beliefs. it's time for these crusty old farts who are stuck in the past to go, republican or democrat..
4. just a bit too friendly to large corporate interests.. I can understand trying to limit frivilous lawsuits, but there are other ways to do that than limiting liability across the board. Take too much responsibility away, and standards of quality/safety start to slip when it comes time for corpXYZ to cost-cut.

It's too bad.. I was hoping to see what lamont would do, good or bad.

I don't like Alan. I'd rather Lamont win before him.

That QPac poll was criticized for being inaccurate.. they have released several polls that vastly differ from internal numbers. Before the primary they were saying Lamont was way higher than he was in reality.

I'd like to see a few more in the coming weeks.. after the debates have a chance to really sink in.

Also, it's easy to push 2 for Lieberman on a phone.. it's harder to get out there and vote, especially when your base, the GOP, is not going to be too excited about voting.. and the confused Democrats might make a last minute choice to support changing the course.
