Dont see how we can force a company to pay for health care, especially when none of their competition pays for it.

Maybe we need socialized health care then.

NO one can afford it on thier own,. the companies who do provide it put them selves at a competitive disadvantage, and those with pre-existing agreements like GM and Ford are going out of business because of it. Socialized health care would eliminate 50% of all personal bankruptcies, and it would make american business more competitive on the world market.

Socialized health care is horrible. And no that statement is false.
~100 a month for health care insurrance is certinly in the grasp of workers.

Hell I can get Kaiser for $188 a month. Same plan I get through work for $28 a month.

I don't know anything about that plan but I know that if you were a family of 4, for you to go out and buy your own policy it would be upwards of 800 dollars a month.
A young single male with a minimal plan would probably be able to get cheaper coverage.

MIT Press Journals - Review of Economics and Statistics - 87(1):174 - Abstract

February 2005, Vol. 87, No. 1, Pages 174-183

Posted Online March 13, 2006.
(doi:10.1162/0034653053327568)

This paper estimates the effect of Wal-Mart expansion on retail employment at the county level. Using an instrumental variables approach to correct for both measurement error in entry dates and endogeneity of the timing of entry, I find that Wal-Mart entry increases retail employment by 100 jobs in the year of entry. Half of this gain disappears over the next five years as other retail establishments exit and contract, leaving a long-run statistically significant net gain of 50 jobs. Wholesale employment declines by approximately 20 jobs due to Wal-Mart's vertical integration. No spillover effect is detected in retail sectors in which Wal-Mart does not compete directly, suggesting Wal-Mart does not create agglomeration economies in retail trade at the county level.
Oh thank god walmart is creating all those jobs!

You can get food just as cheap at most local grocery stores, especially if you cut coupons and buy store brands.

My mom loves Walmart. It has improved her standard of living. She uses it mostly for things she would get at the grocery store. Cosmetics, bathroom supplies, food, etc. Their normal prices are basically the sale/coupon prices at grocery stores and sometimes way cheaper than that. Basically it's like everything they sell is always on sale or even cheaper than our local stores.

She buys what she can at Walmart and then goes to the grocery store for the rest. It has cut her food costs a lot. I'd say upwards of 10-15%.

She has a shared BJs account. But she doesn't have the room to buy in bulk. The kitchen is about 6x8 and that includes refrigerator, stove, sink and cabinets. No pantry. She has to do her shopping a couple times a week. For people who don't have a lot Walmart is great. And if the employees aren't happy working there, there's plenty of other places in NJ.

Does Walmart provide health care to workers that wouldnt get it if they worked similar jobs at Kmart, Target, etc.... of course not. It is too expensive to pay for health care for unskilled labor.
Assumption: Walmarts do not remove jobs from a community that would be considered more skilled labor and replace them with unskilled.

Combine that with the 300 generic drugs they just listed they'd sell for $4 a month and I can't see why poorer consumers wouldn't be able to buy more.

Exactly. There is a reason there is no longer skilled labor in these areas.
