Your new House Intelligence Committee Chair when the Dems take over in January:

Alcee Lamar Hastings

He is a member of the Congressional Black Caucus and was elected President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and Coöperation in Europe in July 2004.
If the Democrats were to regain control of the House, as of 2006 Hastings would be next in line, due to his seniority, to chair the House Intelligence Committee.

His claim to fame is to be the only the 6th Federal Judge in U.S. history to be removed from office by impeachment - by a Democratic Congress too.

Hey, that was 1989... he could have changed in 15 years. Why keep bringing up the past? How about we deal with the issues today?

I don't know if I buy some random article from Wiki that could have been written by anyone, including a GOP PR firm. And just because he is next in line doesn't mean he will be the one.

And I'm sure unlike the Republicans, if he screws up while in a position of Chair of anything, they'll hold him accountable too regardless of his politics.

How about we crucify him once he actually fills the position he's being claimed to fill? There's plenty of incompetence in positions filled with Republicans at the moment to comment on. Let's focus on reality.

if you get impeached from a federal office you should not be allowed to hold office elsewhere

I would argue that it depends on circumstances, though it is certainly a possible sanction that could be applied.

I am way of the idea of erecting walls in front of people that are eternal.

My biggest issue is that people can make mistakes, and the idea that you can never recover from a mistake isn't logical. This differs from continued willfull violations, however.

How is this guy an elected official after being a judge and being impeached? You know how hard it is to impeach judges? ridiculous.

Obviously easier than convicting them.

Alcee L. Hastings was a district judge for the Southern District of Florida. In 1981 he was indicted for conspiracy to solicit and accept a bribe but acquitted by a jury.

I'm not going to say that the jury is any better / worse than the Senate, however jury bias is different from what politicians.
