The only area I believe the government should fund, and fund to a greater degree, is

to veterans.

Our VA system is a joke, and this is the only area I can fully support our government funding more money towards. While I'd be for privatization of the system, as far as funding goes we should give more money to these people that fought wars for this country.

And I'm even anti-war.

pretty interesting since the VA system has gotten more money every year Bush has been in office not to mention a whole new coverage plan.

It still sucks though, but that is due to socialized medicine.

Isn't that socialized medicine? Why should the government pay for thier health care and no one elses? The simple fact that someone decided to join the army makes them deserving of medical care but someone who works his ass off 60 hours a week trying to feed his family doesn't deserve it?
That's retarded.

The government should pay for their health care because they worked for the government and were forever affected by their actions in the military.

It can also be argued that giving money to veterans is constitutional while giving money to other people in socialized forms is completely unconstitutional.

I'd be interested in seeing your constitutional argument for that.

Who said I liked it it? I don't. I merely was saying this is one area I can agree that the government should fund, if it does any funding at all.

socialized means everyone in society benefits, the VA is a benefit from being employed in the United States Military

For life though ? Dont get me wrong, Veterans deserve a much better system/benefits then they currently get, but it is socialized for those without service releated disabilities.

Nah, I'd rather have that privatized. I said I don't necessarily mind if those are funded. Just that I think it'd be more efficient for the private sector to take care of them.

It's suprising that we have VA problems when very few people oppose increasing veteran benefits.

A great many Veterans don't use it. But I think it should be there for actual wartime veterans as a private form of insurance. The VA Hospitals are proof we don't want government run rationed healthcare!

But to survive a comabat situation they deserve that much if not more consideration. However, for the guys who just joined up in the 80's and 90's for the education benefits and never saw any combat, yeah I am not so sypathetic.
