I merely was saying that strictly according to Texas law, it is illegal to hold office and be an atheist, and that article six of the Constitution does not supersede that.

But the 14th Amendment does, of course.

Why is it okay for the tx gop to call say he shouldn't be appointed because he's an atheist? What if they did the same thing with a muslim or a hindu? It'd be a huge scandal. Why is it socially acceptable in this country to discriminate against atheists?
