Florida GOP gubernatorial candidate Crist outed as homosexual, poll numbers drop

A young rising star in the Republican Party has boasted to witnesses of his sexual relationship with Charlie Crist, the frontrunner in the Florida governor's race who has repeatedly denied that he is gay.
The GOP staffer, 21-year-old Jason Wetherington, told friends at separate social functions in August that he had sex with Crist, according to two credible and independent sources who heard Wetherington make the claim first-hand.

Wetherington, who recently worked as a field director for U.S. Senate candidate Katherine Harris and currently works for state representative Ellyn Bodganoff's reelection campaign, also named a man whom he said is Crist's long-term partner, a convicted thief named Bruce Carlton Jordan who also recently worked for Harris in her long-shot Senate bid.

Jordan made headlines recently when the Miami Herald learned that the felon was working as Harris's travel aide. The newspaper noted that Jordan, 42, was reported to be close friends with Charlie Crist, whom he convinced to attend an annual Florida Funeral Directors Association meeting in 2003.

Jordan was charged in 2003 with stealing thousands of dollars from two organizations for whom he worked, including the Tallahassee-based Florida Funeral Directors Association, where he served as executive director. He completed a 60-day jail sentence in February and will be on probation until the year 2011, according to state records.

Funny because it shows yet again that the Republicans nowadays aren't really big tent. Their only real concern is whether or not these people live up to Christian morality.. not whether or not they can professionally accomplish good things for the party.

The fiscal thing seems to have gone out the window long ago, which makes me wonder why fiscal conservatives continue to vote for them..

I hope more GOP people continue to get outed because it really highlights the idiocy of the current faction controlling the party.. and the sooner they're out of power, the better for our country.

The Libertarian party is the true party of fiscal conservatism nowadays.. if enough people stopped viewing elections as a popularity contest between two popular girls in high school and started voting what they really believed, maybe the LP could get off the ground.

There's certainly a large number of fiscal conservatives around that share their values, and hell, even the "Log Cabin" Republicans could get that type of conservatism in that party without having to worry about the bigotry of the radical group currently in control of the GOP.

Also note before you deflate the Big Tent. This is a poll number drop, not a defeat. That means many GOP voters are still "with" unless you guys are crossing over?

Just listened to the John Walsh ad for Crist on my drive home. It was probably one of the best ads I've heard this time around, other than the ad in Wisconsin about the Dem candidate paying for sex testing on teenage girls. No doubt the John Walsh ad will up Crist's numbers. I remember this 'gay Crist' claim out in the news a month ago and nothing coming out of it. What's sad is the Democrat alternative is so shitty I'm betting people would vote for a gay Crist over Davis.

An accusation is not neccessarilty the truth. I could make the claim of any one of the forum members of being homosexual, but it would be just a claim and I'd have to provide real evidence to back it up.

My wife works for the state. She knows several people that are very close to Crist and they are denying the homosexual allegations.
