Not much to say because I am sure this positive news will be trashed. Glad to see some progress towards a return to normal.

Too bad it likely won't do a lot to bring down unemployment for a while:

Though the economy grew at a 5.7% annualized rate last quarter, the AP reports that economic growth "would have to equal 5% for all of 2010 just to lower the average jobless rate for the year by 1 percentage point."

"And economists don't think that's possible."

"Most analysts say economic activity will slow to 2.5% or 3% growth for the current quarter as the benefits fade from government stimulus efforts and from companies drawing down less of their stockpiles. That's why the Federal Reserve and outside economists think it will take until around the middle of the decade to lower the double-digit jobless rate to a more normal 5 or 6%."

BTW, since jobs are what people need for an economy to be healthy why isn't that one of, if not the best way to determine the state of the recovery.

This is good news, and it's great that the economy is starting to turn around, albeit much later than was projected. This is good news, as time goes on this should help the unemployment rate. It's a good foundation for improvement of our economy. Now if we could stop running such insane deficits we might be able to have a healthy economy again before the next presidential election.

You do understand that things go in a certain order during a "recovery" period? Jobs are usually the last thing to come...so pointing out little indicators on the way to jobs returning is good news...whether you like it or not.

If it goes up again this quarter, then you have a little bit of something to talk about. Granted, I want the economy to recover ASAP. I'm just not going to go nuts every time there is info about GDP or jobs saved/created.

He touts the good points WHILE ALSO pointing out the disappointing job numbers. Absolutely nothing wrong with that and I don't see any fucking parades.

I just realized you didn't respond to the list of attempted and successful terrorist attacks and that we're at war.

But anyway I'll concede a bit that Obama should announce these things. At the same time, I want to see more then one quarter of improvement.
