I know some of you hate this man so here's some good news.

A source close to Murtha told CNN he is in the intensive care unit of the hospital. The source asked not to be identified, saying the matter is sensitive in nature.
The 77-year-old Democrat underwent scheduled laparoscopic surgery to remove his gallbladder last week, said spokesman Matthew Mazonkey. "Complications did arise from the surgery, and he is currently at the Virginia Hospital Center in Arlington," he said.

I wonder what the issue could be? I had that surgery done about 5 years ago and it was pretty simple.

Everything is more complicated at that age. Infections are much more likely and sometimes the body just can't heal.

A friend of my moms was 85, fell on the ice and broke 3 of her fingers. She got pneumonia after a few weeks and died a few weeks after that. Just from breaking fingers.

Yeah, it just makes me think about all the stuff I've had done (ankles, knees, elbows, gall bladder, etc) and it makes me feel like I dodged a bullet because it seems even the most mundane things can go wrong when you go in for surgery.

That, and the fact that a co-workers dad just died after going into a coma from knee surgery.

He served his country both in Vietnam and in Congress. Regardless of your bullshit whining about his political positions and comments regarding the activities of our troops (which were more correct than wrong) he is a true American. Your pettiness over his perceived "slight" shows what a little man you are...to continue doing it in his demise makes you even more of a fool than I already thought you were.

His slandering of the Marines at Haditha was 100% wrong.

some political watchdogs are recalling a darker episode in the Congressman's storied past – the Abscam scandal, in which the Pennsylvania lawmaker was caught in an awkward videotaped exchange that suggested he might eventually offer political concessions for cash.

In the 1970s and 80s, the FBI ran a wide sting operation to catch federal lawmakers who the government believed could be bought. The scheme, called Abscam, tried to catch government officials accepting bribes in return for political favors to a non-existent sheik.

Murtha was videotaped turning down a $50,000 bribe while holding out the possibility that he might take money in the future, according to the Associated Press.

"We do business for a while, maybe I'll be interested and maybe I won't," Murtha said on the tape.

Six congressmen and one senator were convicted in the case. Murtha was not charged, but the government named him as an unindicted co-conspirator and he testified against two other congressmen.

He was caught on tape discussing bribes with what he thought was a Saudi Arab sheik with immigration problems. He should have been removed from office decades ago.

His corruptness helped provide you (military) a lot of benefit during his years. But I am sure you don't care about that (as you use your benefits.)

He was most certainly a corrupted politician.

As far as his comments, I dunno. I would probably shrug them off like when great grandpa calls black people the N-word. A senior moment by someone on their way out...who has opinion of little value.

he lied repeatedly, both about what happened and who he source was. He was ordered to appear for the defamation trial but unfortunately died before the trial proceeded.

He was as corrupt as a majority of politicians.

I love how the Haditha thing is brought up as "slander" when we all know what happened. It just so happens that they weren't convicted of anything. No wonder they don't want terrorists given trials.

He was far more corrupt than the majority. He was one of the most corrupt members of Congress.

Dems are now worried about losing his seat and his vote on healthcare.
