Yes, Sarah, do the Dems a favor....

Run for President in 2012.
Palin says 'absurd' not to ponder presidential bid - Yahoo! News
In fact, it may be the only way the Dems win.

If you had the horrid interviews she had before, wouldn't you have something written down? Though she really should have used index cards. But yeah, that was pretty boneheaded.

No, If I had the horrid interviews she had before, I'd stick to moose hunting, and maybe become mayor of a village of 200 Eskimos.
But you would think she could remember her basic platform without crib notes.

YouTube - Sarah Palin READS CHEAT NOTES on her HAND

She had a message on her hand that said "Hi Mom", and was smudged in this particular clip. It looks like this is something she had done earlier.

When taken out of context, sure, one could believe that...but guess what? She was struggling to answer a question when she looked at it. "Hi mom" isn't an answer.

You would think Obama could remember after spouting the same basic message for 2.5 years. But he still has two teleprompters regardless.

As it turns out the not from my previous post was a day later; her notes from this event are, according to The Huffington Post, notes she quickly scribbled down.

One could argue, and I might even venture to do so, that she had a few thoughts immediately prior to going on stage, and wanted to jot a few notes down to remind her of what she was thinking. I suspect I might do the same thing if I had no paper to write a few notes on. Even the author notes this:

Just to be clear: The notes most likely weren't for her speech, for which she used prepared remarks, but for the Q&A session that followed, during which she glanced at the hand in question.
On a more humorous note, New York Magazine has a different take on it:

But now we're wondering: Did she really need to be reminded of the main tenets of her own platform, or was she setting up her detractors to become a punchline in her own genius joke?...The ability to be self-deprecating is always an admirable trait for a politician. Except, as news outlets like ourselves pick up on the new palm-note story, the joke's actually on us. Because Sarah Palin has now spelled out in explicit fashion what's been evident for a while now: She truly does have the media eating out of the palm of her hand.
I guess in the end only she will know, and we are left to the demise of our own personal biases.

Point being...if you're going to joke about Obama, don't come out on stage looking like a 4th grader with notes scribbled on your fucking hand.

While I think that having teleprompters for everything is a bit much, I have to ask how many people here have ever given a speech on TV or in front of a large crowd?

If you have, did you use notes? Or did your ramble on like a moron endlessly because your didn't have a form or structure to your remarks?

I have no problem with pols using notes. Writing on one's hand is kind of middle-schoolish, but having a notepad or typed notes works fine for me. What's the issue with that?

That all being said, I agree with Donkey (crazy, I know): blasting the president for using notes (or prepared text) looks lame when you go out and do the same thing.

I have given many a talk in front of a large crowd. The secret is practice. No notes and no rambling required.

My point is that not everyone is as gifted as you are, apparently, and it is not as easy to speak in front of public as people think. Ask our last president (or our current one, for that matter).

I wouldn't hope for this. Do you have enough faith in the american voters that she wont win? Even if she had a 5% chance of winning, is it worth hoping for? I'd rather both parties get capable candidates.

I am sure there were less words on her hands than on the teleprompter... It is very different to have key points written down instead of a full script. I'm just sayin, there are differences.

Why not? There are enough differences between a quick note and teleprompters. I really don't care about the teleprompter stuff though. They are a tool that can be used by whoever needs them.

Is she too elite to write a quick note on her hand? Perhaps it is her way of "going green"

I was watching ABC news bash the republicans today. They were very one sided on the "party of no". They then went right into Sarah Palin's notes on her hand. Seemed a little biased and childish to me.

I found it amusing that everyone jumped all over Palin's "hand story" yet no one in the media, except Fox News, jumped on Obama mispronouncing "corpsman" 3 times in a teleprompted speech.

Obama wasn't making fun of someone else at the same time he was botching said word. See the difference?

No. He's the commander-in-chief. He should know how to pronounce the names of the armed forces. I could see, "marine corprse-I'm sorry, corps." and him continuing. But he did it three times.

Is it exhausting holding that water for Mr. Obama?
