Well, John Milton thought that he was called by God to write something "wonderful" for God. He knew he was born for a reason and that he was supposed to write something magnificent to glorify God. So, he wrote an Epic Poem called Paradise Lost, which is based on the story of Adam and Eve and the Fall of man.

One interesting aspect is that Milton writes that God made Adam for thought. He is said to have a very big head and it's so he can think and rationalize. But, in the poem, Adam is overwhelmed by Eve's beauty, and feels that he can't concentrate on tending the Garden of Eden because of her beauty. So in otherwords, he is weak when it comes to her. Part of the reason for the Fall is because Adam listens to Eve, so does this mean that God made Man to be smarter than women, but weaker sexually?

That's just something we discussed in my last class, but I wondered if anyone here has ever read or studied this work...

I would have to say; given what I have read and understood from studies of Pre-Abrahamic Religions and Judean theosopy in particular. I am one to insist that yours is an intellectually dishonest vision of the male/female concept, through fundemental psychologies you would see otherwise. The "male" aspect of character is a mechanism of decisive action at any point in time, and further it can be seen that the "female" is the calculating consciousness/thought.
