| haha. how can you even call cnn "the liberal media" when they produce that sort of crap. come on, 30 assasination attempts, daily attacks on his home, and his son kidnapped from school? does that really sound like a place you would want to call home? | ||||

| Great to see some of the good that's going on over there, but put into perspective, they're unfortunately very small and meaningless accomplishments. You might be vaccinating kids against polio, but when they don't have access to clean drinking water or sewage facilities, what good does it do? They might have built schools and given them text books, but if they're getting blown up on the way to school because of the civil war that we failed to prevent, how is it doing them any good? And I like how they tout 25% of women are in the Government, but under secular Saddam woman had more rights than they do now or that they're likely to have in the future, many studies have shown that Iraq is now worse for women than it was under Saddam. ![]() So, again, I think this debate is all about perspective. It's not that people don't care about what accomplishments there have been, just that the bad heavily outweighs the good to such a degree that it's almost laughable to tout them as some sort of "counter" to what's really going on over there, like the ad says.. "some of that might be true....." | ||||

| Glenn Beck is an opinion show. Almost all the big stations have a conservative voice on an opinion show. That doesn't make their stations centrist or conservative. | ||||

| Except the bad is working to undermine all that good happening. IT's pretty darned hard to rebuild a country when terrorists are trying to tear it up. If it weren't for that factoer, there'd be a lot more drinking water than there would've been a year ago. | ||||

| Those aren't my words. I'm not making this up. Situation Called Dire in West Iraq - washingtonpost.com Why must you try and put every argument in the framework? No it's not a good thing. It may help us get the hell out of Iraq though, which is a good thing. | ||||

v. pros·pered, pros·per·ing To be fortunate or successful, especially in terms of one's finances; thrive. This is laughable, and as well a pathetic assessment -- so I don't know whether to or at calling the war-torn country of Iraq "prospering". They only have electricity 3 to 4 hours per day, and that's intermittently. Plus we spent 133 million dollars on equipping the Iraqi Police Force but we never bought them manuals, or parts and tools to service the weapons. It seems we only offered the sincerest of Iraqis a "single-serving" commitment. Last edited by Nonphixion; 10-31-2006 at 04:51 PM..

The major cities are the major population centers, so if we follow the logic of the reasoning in your post, then the major population centers are riddled with 'badness', thus most of the population of Iraq is suffering from that 'badness'. That's just math. Of course the media loves sensationalism, but do you really think they're making up reports about bombings and whatnot? When you have 74 Iraqi's die as well as 6 or 7 American soldiers in a day, how do you "sensationalize" that any more than it already is?
