The Talking Points for Democrats in 2010

** We've gone from recession to recovery.
** We've made more progress in the war on terror in the last eight months than was made in the preceding eight years.
** We've strengthened our relationships with our allies around the world.
**Two million people or more have jobs today who wouldn't have without the bold action taken by this President and Democrats in Congress.
** We have the first Latina and only the third woman ever on the Supreme Court.
** We're using science and fact in policy making instead of ideology and politics.
** We have the most transparent Administration in modern history, with tough ethics standards, and we are wringing the influence of special interests out of the policy making process.

The Democratic Message for 2010 - Politics - The Atlantic
I find them laughable and feel that the American people will see right through these lies.

The only that is factually true is Sotomayor but I always get a kick out of the presentism that Obama loves. I have noticed they have recently added "modern history" to their self love fest, I guess they still have figured out what a special interest is.

"Democrats are full of shit" and it will likely work for them because most Americans believe it.

I felt it would be nice to compare their talking points to the Democrats...but I guess you don't really care. Bash away.

I haven't checked to see if they have anything posted. But I am sure it will just be a politically correct way of saying "Democrats suck" on a lot of issues. And it will likely work for them the same as it worked for Democrats in the last 3 elections.

Since we're playing games with posts and infractions...

How about you show some evidence that these talking points are incorrect?

Riiiiiight. They haven't been bad for someone who is a socialist I'm sure. That isn't most of the country though, and especially not the moderates that both of the two parties will be campaigning for.

If a moderate swung over to vote for Obama mainly because of Iraq how do you think he's feeling right now?

How about one that voted for him because the Republicans were spending money like crazy?

How about one who voted for him because of the bailouts?

Obama and the democrats picked up many votes last time around merely because they weren't republicans. That probably isn't going to be true next time. Personally, I wouldn't vote for either, but most of the country is of the mindset that you have to vote for one or the other so pick the one that isn't as bad.

I think a lot of people will be voting Republican this time around no matter what their platform is just because as you said, they'll be voting for who they feel isn't as bad. They'll pick up plenty of votes from past elections. I think people realize they probably won't be all that much better but voting for a Democrat will be difficult for them because it will be as if they are vindicating their actions and will give Democrats ammunition to keep pushing stronger while saying America wants it. That alone will get people to push down the Rs.

I was thinking about this one this morning. I think this is tactless and degrading to Sotomayor. It makes her sound like the affirmative action pick. Imagine if Republicans made a list of 5 or so party platforms to get themselves elected and they said "We have the first black woman Secretary of State so vote for us!" Huh?

You can start with adding up the number of Black Republicans voted to Congress in the last 40 years? That's probably and impressive number.

Democrats SHOULD highlight their strong points...and allowing minorities to participate in their party...along with giving qualified minorities opportunities they never had before is a strong point.

Right. Except that it's an ongoing process and the talking point is not discounted by your examples. Nobody says "all" and "none". Finding examples of the behavior doesn't disprove the statement.

Disprove it by comparing it to other admins.

"Wringing" is ongoing and again, finding examples don't disprove they aren't doing exactly what they say they are doing.

Again with the time defense, it is very tiresome. You can't defend Obama's record so you explain that he will get it right some time in the distant future.

This is not wringing out special interests:
The healthcare debate took up much of the oxygen in Washington last year. So not surprisingly, the pharmaceutical and health products industry spent a record amount last year — close to $266.8 million — on federal lobbying.

That is the biggest lobbying expenditure ever by a single industry in one year, according to the report.

The report appears to tracks with an analysis by The Hill last month that showed at least 18 of the top 25 lobbying firms saw their revenue increase from 2008 to 2009. Perennial powerhouses Patton Boggs and Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld topped the list, but The Hill’s analysis also showed remarkable growth for the Podesta Group, Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck and Holland & Knight during the recession.

They have to spend more in order to push their influence...because? Wait for it? It's harder for them to do so.
