I agree. Like when I asked this guy I know why he wanted to be a Marine, he told me "Because I wanted to shoot some stuff."

Rumsfield said it too, it's not the ideal army, but it's what we've got. And I think we are all aware of what we've got. No one is saying that they are worthless, or that they sacrifice is nothing. But, we still know what we have.

OK great. Now what? I am in nebraska. Should I not vote for him again? What do you want me to do, stereotype him in with the rest of the democratic party?

As long as you claim retards likes Ted Steven who claims the internet is a series of tubes or Allen who likes to hang racial things in his offices along with making comments that basically calls someone a form of "nigger" thats fine with me. I'll claim his retarded comments.

Therefore i can join the military and do a job i enjoy.

I do not need to convince you of anything but exactly how much time do you have in uniform?

You think they are cancelling out of outrage, or the desire to distance themselves from him right now?

He managed to have the meaning of his words twisted. I think most people will see it that way, but still back away from this.

And now we know why this man is not PRESIDENT. Its HOOF in MOUTH statements like this that cost him the PRESIDENCY........... further more, it made no sense. The only conclusion that I can draw from that statement is we have a bunch of very stupid people serving our country.

Move over JANE FONDA, you now have serious competition.
What he said, as anyone who has bothered to look at the entire transcript of the speech would know, is that BUSH is basically an ignorant slacker who obviously didn't study very hard in his history classes, or would have known better than to get our troops involved in a quagmire with no end or solution in site.

Bush took the easy way out, and chose not to go into the active military service.OR show up for most of his reserve drills. Since he has been president, he has chosen to cut benefits for our veterans. Kerry had the balls to volunteer for one of the most dangerous jobs in the Navy, and he didn't even HAVE to. He has consistantly voted for increased benefits and health care for our veterans, and continues to do so today.

Anybody with half an ounce of common sense can see that Kerry simply mis-spoke. Bush does it all the time, but since everybody on the right thinks it's OK that the damned fool can't even pronounce "nuclear" correctly, he's excused. When he says "bring it on", and says he "uses the google" , well, that's OK that's just George bein' a "good ole boy."

To cut a long narrative short, it doesn't say much for the intelligence of those on the right who are ready to pile onto yet another piece of overblown propaganda. It's bullshit, it's obvious bullshit, and if you can't see through it, you either have blinders on, and/or you need to look at Kerry's record in the Senate. I'm confident most on the right will do neither. Most of you haven't "studied hard and done your homework," and that's why we're stuck with this MORON you helped to elect.

As far as anyone owing our troops an apology, Bush is responsible for using them as canon fodder, not Kerry. An apology is not nearly enough as far as I am concerned.A resignation would be a start. Better yet, impeachment.Bush is neither "plenty smart", nor "plenty brave." What he is, is "plenty stupid", exactly what Kerry meant.

They're not.

Like I said, I agree somewhat with the premise of his statement.

That being said, someone that ran for President 2 years ago and is a national leader of a political party should not say that. Bill Maher, Pat Buchanan, Lew Rockwell, Sean Hannity, anyone else can say that. But someone that is a national leader of the Democrats and almost became President should not say that. In fact, even if they should say it, it's fucking idiotic to do so. A couple weeks before the election, Kerry insults the troops???? GG faggot.

If his comments result in the Republicans keeping control of Washington, I'll be pissed. Because whether he meant it or not, or whatever anyone else thinks he meant when he said it, the fact remains that it sounds like he's insulting the troops and most people can't stand for that. Hannity played the clip about 3,000 times yesterday. If this one single comment motivates undecided conservatives and Republicans to vote to keep Republicans in office, then...........

Are there people in Iraq who don't do well in school and decide to join the military? Of course. But it's kind of disrespectful for leaders in the DNC to take the stance of constantly saying it in public for no reason other than to attack the GOP. There's plenty to attack the GOP for without saying our military is full of lazy, uneducated people "stuck" in Iraq. For an "elitist" he certainly has no class.
I think that instead of just taking that one statement, which was obviously a misstatement, out of context, you should "do your homework" and then you would see that Kerry was talking about Bush, not our troops. It's amazing, the sheer lack of common ordinary "horsesense" today. Sure, he misspoke. I'll repeat what I said in a previous reply to a similar thread:Bush misspeaks ALL the time nearly every day and gets away with it. Why? Because it's already a "given" that he's not the sharpest knife in the drawer. He says "Nuculer" instead of "nuclear", and everybody accepts it, because the bar (for HIM) has already been lowered. Nobody expects much illumination to emit from the dim bulb, so no one is surprised when not much does. When Bush proclaims that he's not only an avid reader of Shakespeare but that he also "uses the google," not one eyebrow is raised on the right. Yet when someone like Kerry misspeaks, as everybody does from time-to-time, he's nailed to the cross by the self-righteous right and accused of insulting our troops.

No, I'm sorry, but the REAL insult to our troops is their being used as referees with targets on their backs for Shiite and Sunni "death squads" in Iraq. The REAL insult to them is the assumption by Bush and his lying co-whores that our troops are too dumb to know bullshit when they hear it.

It's not that difficult to figure out whose side Kerry's REALLY on, and whose side Bush is really on:
Who has voted consistantly for increased health care and other benefits for our veterans? And who has consistantly cut them? Do your homework, and you'll figure it out.Or not.....

I almost feel sorry for Kerry. The poor guy is just incapable of recognizing how his words are going to be used against him.

I admit it, I hate Kerry, but I think he was more or less correct in his statement. Study hard or you might have little choice but to become a pawn in Iraq. I don't think he meant to insult our soldiers in Iraq, but it would take very little forethought to recognize how this statement would be spun against the speaker.

The poor guy is just plain stupid when it comes to opening his mouth.

First, I don't know if Kerry misspoke or not. He was doing one liner stand-up jokes. Why would he insult someone else's education when they did better then him? That makes no sense. When he told the joke, the audience gasped. It's not just the GOP and crazy people misunderstanding or taking what he said out of context.

If he misspoke he needs to humble himself and apology, not attack. He has a history of saying negative things about our troops. If he didn't mean to insult them again he needs to say that. Because he can't just say "I'm a veteran, I would never say anything negative about our troops." He's the only idiot who believes that.

Has has generalized our troops in Vietnam as doing all sorts of horrible things and he has generalized our soldiers in Iraq are terrorizing, raping, etc.

He has a
