I'm as liberal as liberal gets, but my Dad is a Marine. I have great honor and respect for the American soldier. I don't have any respect for John Kerry though.

Kerry served in Vietnam, got in the way of the bullets, carries shrapnel in his body, yet he STILL got smacked down and made to look like a pussy by George "skipped his National Guard service yet supported the Vietnam War" W. Bush, and Dick "had other priorities, got five deferrments, yet supported the Vietnam War too" Cheney. A man who served getting punked by chickenhawks doesn't deserve anyone's respect IMHO.

As for his comments, they may be accurate on some level in some cases. But still, the comments ARE insulting. Our military is made up of people who chose to join, and they deserve our respect for their courage alone. It was a dumbass thing to say too. Mr. Kerry, don't insult our military while they're still fighting and dying in this dumbass war that YOU voted for, and PLEASE don't insult our military a week before elections! Politics 101.

It's like being at the Battle of the Buldge and having a senator defile our troops at the Battle of the Buldge. I think it's this serious because of his history. It's not that this is a one time encounter. He goes back to 1971 when he defiled ME when I came out of Fort Torres in Vietnam and all our other people over there. So I think it's time for the American people to ask for his resignation.

John, I spent a year down in the Delta where he spent three months. And then he left his crew. He was a skipper of a boat and he left them because he had three purple hearts and two of them were self induced. I think it's absolutely dispicable that he claims he's a veteran. And particularly the way he left Vietnam and came back and deflamed all of us. He was absolutely terrible in what he said about the American troops over there and what we were trying to do.

there goes any calls the there is a "liberal media" slant

40 people kidnapped in iraq, dozens killed, al-sadr gains a huge political victory which could single handedly lead to the US pullout in Iraq

great informative and VERY important stories completely ignored because we have to hear about Kerry who has gone into hiding...theres no story, he said he botched the joke and he didn't mean to, and he's out the campaign

This is two days in the 6 before the eleciton where this is the FULL TIME STORY

im still confused about how people don't understand he botched a speech, he said so...

the speech didn't get national coverage, it was the GOP who made it into a big story...THATS how the troops got insulted...Kerry has made dozens of speeches and thousands of lines, no one in the military would have never heard of this story had not Bush and Co siezed upon it

This is the issue people are clammering about. The media as a whole (other than Fox) is doing a good job taking Kerry's side on this issue.

NY Times took an entire panelist to write their story about this. And they put the Kerry quote on page two... FIFTEEN PARAGRAPHS in! The story was about what he said. And they put his quote FIFTEEN paragraphs into the story and on page two!

but i was making more than a soldier in iraq when I was pouring concrete for 45hrs/week, and my chances of dying were FAR less.

his message was wrong, his delivery was wrong, his "joke" was wrong, his thought process was wrong........everything about him is just wrong.

He said it was botched, i don't know how you're taking it any other way...even what you posted has that as the title, and what he said doesn't challenge that...

And yes, it is Bush's fault moreso than Kerry because Bush ran out around with the tape trying to make the troops feel insulted

When Bush misspeaks, its funny and cute, when Kerry does it, he should resign

I've never heard any Democrat call for Bush to resign because he said things that clearly support terrorism if you read them literally "we can't let up until the terrorists win" etc
