It's not a tax on their paychecks; it's a tax on whatever property they possess at the time of their deaths.

Maybe not now but I doubt they would have gotten where they are without being born rich.

Sure, move to NJ. Fucking corrupt peices of shit they are...

Why tax any of it to begin with? Whether it's $5.00 or $5 billion? Seems more fair to me?

Because if we didn't the country would collapse, one way or another

and at the end of the that, we'd all wake up to our new Chinese Overlords

I think this sentence explains the mentality of a lot who support tax free inheritances. You said people should go out and earn their own millions, then they'd understand...the implication being that anyone, should they chose, can go out and earn millions. In other words, if you're not a millionaire with an estate to pass on, it's because you were lazy or unambitious.

Personally, I don't see it that way at all. I basically see capitalism as a huge lottery where very few get the winning tickets. What makes those "winners" has a lot to do with luck and things you were born with, and then some hard work thrown in too. In such a situation, it doesn't make as much sense to allow people keep all those millions locked up forever, tax free, when it was just the luck of the draw which got them rich in the first place.

They fail at realizing the obvious

If all 300 million americans got out there, and worked as hard and smart as humanly possible, would they all have millions of dollars in income?

Ofcourse not

In a smaller example, if every public student in a school tries his hardest, there can only be a few in the top 10%, nomatter you just tell them to work harder, its all percentages, an endless treadmill

Without people working the dirty blue collar jobs, and not just young people, older men and women with years of experience to hasten the job...our economy would collapse

will this basic and obvious point stop the mockery?

Ofcourse not, why would they let anyone or anything get in their way of spitting on the poor to make themselves feel better, because, no matter how many any of them could fail as a human being, they can always tell themselves that at least they are not homeless

I understand that. But it's more like giving money between individuals without having top pay tax on it. If I want to give my friend $100K it would be taxed. Why should dead people be able to transfer funds without paying a penalty?

Well, for one, they wouldn't be transferring the funds were they not dead. They're also unable to benefit from the funds or the transfer because they're dead. I think it's also to discourage people from storing assets like that in places where the government won't get any at all upon transfer.

Funny that they're willing to go to such lengths to help the wealthy, but don't feel like helping the poorest or weakest members of our society

Fundraiding ability apparently is > *

It doesn't speak to her 'business savvy' that her career is built on the wealth she was born into.

she's in fashion. she's made millions upon millions in fashion, as well as other things completely different from what she was born into. she was born wealthy, but has worked for much of her own wealth. there are plenty of people born into nice situations. who gives a fuck. lucky them.

She didn't work for her wealth dude, she's where she is because she was born into a rich family, had a boring sex tape that made her infamous, and has used her "sluttiness" to launch a "career" based on the fact that she has a vagina and people have seen it.

I don't begrudge her that wealth or the ability to use it as a "leg up" like some might, she's entitled to it because she was born into the family, and her parents worked hard enough that they should be able to do whatever they want to do with their money...

But don't make her out to be some sort of business savy smart chick, coz that aint the case.

I agree. People came to her and they're using her name. She's not doing anything but signing a contract and getting a check in the mail.

Perhaps, but that's not really countering anything I've said about that "work"

I don't think it's "work" she's doing as much as it is her status is earning her money.

does it really matter?

are we going to punish her for her luck of being born to a big businessman?
