| Libertarians: Never around when you need them Case in point, Tennessee Senate Race GOP primary in 5 days, looks like the R is going to start with about an 11 point lead. The Dem, Ford, is a moderate Blue Dog democrat, who fought against Pelosi who I know many libertarians despise, along with the Bush's GOP Congress So I see a GOP candidate... Dem candidate... Green party candidate... None of the above candidate... No libertarian candidate in the light red (Kerry got 43%) state in the one race that will probably decide whether the GOP keeps things going as usual or the Dems shake it up with a takeover of the Senate God damn it | ||||

| State Senate? I think Libertarian's need to focus on winning local seats, too many people feel they have to vote either Democrat or Republican or they're throwing their vote away when it comes to national level elections | ||||

| Libertarians aren't going to be a threat to the Republicans the same way the Green Party is to the Democrats.. at least not yet. The Dems are gonna have to deal with the Green Party handicap for a little longer until the Libertarians are popularized. | ||||

| I dunno, I think there is a great chance for the Libertarian's to brand themselves as the "true" conservatives and launch into becoming a real national party with how much the GOP has abandoned it's principles But I think they have to actually hold a seat somewhere before people are going to be alright with electing them | ||||

| It would be a start if the Doublemint twins (R's & D's for our sarcasm challenged friends) would allow third parties on the ballot nationwide... but why in the world would they do such a thing? They've got a pretty sweet racket going already.... Reminds me of the Rainman parody the television sitcom Roseanne did years ago, "They say she's the same but she's not the same..." .... "They say they are different but they aren't so different"..... (repeat ad nauseum). Yes I'm Captain Obvious' sister. <--- I have no idea what that is supposed to be, but I felt this post needed some kind of entertainment value. So that's as good as it gets. haha | ||||

| It's a combination of several smilies -> happysad -> ughcombined -> .. and then, add in I agree about being on the ballot, but even more importantly I think we should allow organized parties to participate in debates.. being on the ballot does little good if people don't understand their positoins relative to the other major parties | ||||

Don't get me wrong, I think it's *very* important that third parties are allowed to participate in the debates - but what good will that do if those parties representatives aren't allowed on the ballot in more than half of the states? One needs the other. In other words - we need some hefty election reforms in this country in a lot of different areas, one of which is the acceptance of multiple party representatives who are not only 'allowed' (and that is only used for lack of a better word) to partipate in the debates - but ALSO allow those third parties to be represented on the ballot[s] nation wide. Then we have the eletoral college and all it entails.. but that's another beast.... I think they were scared...<----Linky | ||||

| You're right that they need to be on the ballot. I just mean, if they get on the ballot, they also need to be allowed to be able to debate so people understand who they are and what they're about, rather than them just seeing a line on the ballot that says SoandSo, (LP) | ||||
