LL'ers with kids. Ever get sick of "kid" songs?

My wife would buy all these kids CD's and they are all so corny and horrible. Then Grandma bought our kids a Ralph's World CD. Amazingly enough, it was good. REAL GOOD. Like toe tapping and actually singing along after a while good. We have two Ralph's World CD's for a few years now and I'm still not sick of them.

The songs are clever, musically the guy is very gifted and really changes things up from blues rifts to rock to country.

Anyone else found any gem like this that they would like to share?

my mom bought my son this cd in vegas. i guess there is this store out there that lets you make customized kids cd's. from what she told me, you basically type the kids name into a computer, and then the computer automatically inserts your childs name into the songs. sounds like a sort of cool idea, right? well the cd is creepy as hell like all of the songs are sort of weird anyway, but then its like "IAN, DO YOU LIKE THE RAIN? IAN!" it doesnt sound so bad when i type it, but my wife and i just gave eachother the "wtf is this creepy ass shit?!" look, and turned it off. then we told my mom...and she goes "o thought it was cute!"

and for the original question, i just refuse to listen to kids music. im not sure if it makes me a bad parent, but i cant do it. i literally watched countless episodes of "blues clues" with my oder boy. now with this go around with my younger son, im putting my foot down.

OMG, the worst is that I get a song from Sesame Street stuck in my head.

The problem is that it's the same song that was stuck in there from when I was watching it as a child. They still play it sometimes.


"1.2.3.4.5...6.7.8.9.10....11.12" With the pinball machine in the background.


It's maddening. I don't even know why I put those shows on. He's just over 13 months. It's not like he even watches them for more than 30 seconds at a time.

i figure he is just gonna listen to what im listening to. i mean, if some hard shit from dr. dre-the chronic comes up on the playlist, im gonna change it but otherwise its whatever. poor guy, i also listen to mostly sports talk or liberal talk in the car.

my son was spiderman for halloween and i taught him the spiderman song (he is 3) now he is walking around in his costume singing "spiderman! spiderman! dun nun nun" he doesnt remember the words, but its so cute. i also taught him to go "dun nun nun nun, BATMAN!" everytime we drive through steam from a manhole

My Kid knows the Spiderman song, but when he asked me how it went, I made up the lyrics, and now when he sings it he says:

my wife wants a girl. at this point, i dont really have a preference. i wanted boys, got 2 of them. so either way is cool for me.

Hello To All,

I'm new to LL, just learning to post, and I'm having a bit of trouble using quotes in replys.

Any help would be appreciated.

My kids are now grown and I still love the songs they grew up on.

A song without complex themes, needn't be for kids only.

Among my favorites are those written by Tom Paxton and Tom Chapin.

I would be happy to relate more if anyone cares to ask.

I can't stand the kids' CDs that are labeled "kids' songs" and shit like that. Just some out of tune hack singing "I'm a little teapot".....

But we have more than one Disney music CD. Those are good. Most of the music is by artists you know and the songs are actually pretty good.
