What is your Job / Career -I am a network engineer for Sprint. I am responsible for building out our various networks to meet project/forecasting/capacity needs. It's really important! Really. It is. I also do basketball personal training.

Religion - No thanks.

Schooling - Received a scholarship to play basketball @ San Diego State. Promptly got kicked out when Stormtroopers raided my dorm room my sophomore year. (not mine officer.) Never finished.

My name is Julian, I'm a 17 year old (

) film student at the Savannah College for Art and Design. I'm about to be a sophomore. I skipped 6th and 7th grade, started high school at age 12, college at 16. I don't have a job, but I blame the Bush Economy

I've been into filmmaking since I started high school. I was lucky enough to go to a school with a very well-funded broadcasting/mass communications program, so that's what really got me into it. I really like making music videos, and I have a few ideas floating around in my head for movies, but my ultimate goal is to get into television. I was too shy in high school to be in front of the camera when I worked there in the vocational program, so most of my knowledge and expertise is on the operator's side of the lens. Dream job would probably be working for adult swim or CNN. One of the two.

I'm a Reform Jew, but I only really go to temple on the Holidays, I should go more often, especially considering how pretty the synagogue in Savannah is.

My ideology is mainly Libertarian, but I support the Democrats far and away above Republicans. I would rather deal with Democrats crappy economic policies than the Republicans social ideals.

I like driving, playing BF2 (when my lame Windows machine works

), travelling to historic sites, music.

I live just outside of Nashville, TN, and go to school in Savannah, GA.

Oh, you go to SCAD? I used to be in a swing band that frequented Savannah, and we'd mostly have SCAD kids show up to listen and dance. Of course, that was 5-6 years ago...

Job: I work for an internet startup firm which does automated categorization of news articles. I work in the Categorization dept/team/whatever tuning our NLP software to provide good results. I also do a ton of PHP/MySQL scripting in order to speed up our workflow. I'm currently teaching myself a little AJAX to make my apps run a little faster.

Career: I have no idea what I want to be when I grow up but I'm getting a shitload of really good experience in taxonomy/PHP/MySQL here. Ideally I'd be running my own department somewhere or learn a good bit of OOP (I can do rudimentary stuff in Java) so that I can get into making NLP solutions. When I started college I wanted to be a video game programmer but was too lazy to deal with math more advanced than Calc 1

Religion: I was raised Roman Catholic but have been an atheist since I was 8 or 9.

Schooling: Public schooling until 9th grade, but I got kicked out of my Catholic HS in the beginning of 10th grade. I have a double-major BA in Classics and German with a minor in Business. I also have an MA in Theoretical Linguistics. One day I may finish my PhD (I got hired out of grad school) but that's not a priority for me right now. Much of the current mainstream linguistic theory aside from Morphology doesn't apply to what I do day-to-day and I really didn't like sitting around writing theory papers.

Hobbies: I've been a drum and bass DJ for the past 8 years now. I haven't really given it a lot of time since I moved to NYC but it's been a fun ride. I've gotten to play around the country and a couple of shows in Europe. Pretty much every weekend I sit down to do a new CD but get sidetracked. I also take a lot of pictures so I guess photography would be a hobby as well. Other than that I basically wander NYC in my spare time alone or with a friend and explore.

Location: New York City

Political Ideology/Party: I really don't know if I have a solid ideology yet but I think the Libertarian stance aligns most closely with my own. Currently I'm fighting a losing battle with cynicism and apathy.
