| Really have no idea how anyone could be a fan of Lincoln and still complain about Bush taking away your freedoms. | ||||

| I am new to your forum, and wanted to post something just to get my feet wet, so to speak. Of several books on Lincoln I have read, my favorite is "The Real Abraham Lincoln", by Reinhard H. Luthin (Prentice-Hall, 1960). Nearly 100 of its 775 pages are devoted to reference and index, so those with faulty recollections can revisit stuff. Probably on your local library's shelf. Now let's see if i can actually work this thing. | ||||

| Yes, really. Those that even love Lincoln like to compare the two, noting how similiar they are. Here's a couple good articles comparing Bush to Lincoln and Wilson. Claremont vs. The Founding Fathers by Thomas J. DiLorenzo Abraham Dubya Bush | ||||

To have that level of hatred geared at him, but then be remembered in the history books as the best president of all time... I mean, that's pretty nuts. So, as for Bush, I guess it really depends on how well the history books work for him. Will he be a Lincoln, or a U.S. Grant? One thing's for sure, he'll be remembered somehow. A lot of shit has gone down under him. I almost wish I could freeze myself for 150 years and see how he's remembered exactly. Will it be statues erected in his honor, or likenesses erected only to be set on fire?

| Hello KatKanPlay, Sure, on "faulty recollections", How's This. As I get on in years I find myself revisiting stuff and discovering whole new interpretations of what I thought I knew. I thing attributed to Lincoln, for instance, may turn out to be something I wished he had said, or should have said. Nowadays one of the first things I look for in book is the stuff in the back. Hey, perhaps it's a throwback to grammar school days, and the joy of finding that't were the answers were. Hope that helps. goldenponderbob | ||||
