| I think he should go too. I think if Bush had replaced him sometime last year they would not be losing as badly as they are right now with the elections. I think the fact that he's kept him is indicative of the arrogance that permeates this Administration.. the holier than thou attitude, the we're always right attitude, etc.. He needs to go because he's done a horrible job. | ||||

| Rumsfeld isnt going anywhere. They arent going to get rid of him. It is beyond politics, it as if he is in his rightful place as a core member of NPAC. He may be forced to resign, but it wont be by the administration or a republican congress. | ||||

| Being that most of the military reads the times, there might be some major criticism fueling from the military on the way he handled things. | ||||

| I am no longer active. I am National Guard. I went over on the first wave at the beginning of the war. That is basically the only real newspaper we get in the PX's and Base exchanges. It normally gives us the recent updates of on the military and changes that are coming down. I feel that Rumsfeld was completely ineffective and had seasoned Generals by his side who to me were afraid to tell the truth and it was obvious that when they did, he did not listen anyway. Unfortunately these were only the ones that were chosen after the others retired rather than work for him. Just think back to the beginning when General Shinseki (Army chief of Staff) tried to tell him how many troops were needed for the war and how he was ridiculed for his knowledge of war. And of course being there and feeling like just a number out in the desert with no equipment, limited ammo, living like the homeless with no where to sleep or stay unless you count hundreds of troops scouring garbage bins for boxes to use as makeshift shelter from the sandstorms or piling 200+ soldiers in a 50 person tent. I could go on forever. | ||||

That literally makes me sick. I'm so sorry that you had to go through that, and I hope this ends soon so you don't have to go back.

Kinda like when Bush used that big ship for his Mission Accomplished...looked pretty good huh? But, if we aren't at war, and they aren't being used (and they are USED) who wants to take a nice press picture to some guys sitting behind desks?

| just to be picky, ..., warships & the like are being 'used' even during peacetime. The threat/possibility of their actual 'use' in anger is primarily what they are for IMO. Its part of the difference between force & power, a thing that I cant help but feel that Runsfeld (& chums) forgot along the way. This does not, in itself, invalidate arguements that wars are for profit, ..., cruise missile stocks do actually need to be 'used' in order to be restocked etc | ||||
