Next time an officer tells him to do something I bet he listens.

I would say yes if once he got him down he started kicking and beating the guy. Not knowing what the guy might have in his pockets makes the cops actions somewhat understandable IMO.

I didnt see much evidence of a fight, but then again it is a clip,,,

I'd say that was perfectly executed. Surprise and shock keeps the guy from maybe reacting in a way that could have gotten both of them hurt.

I can almost see your point, but I can also see why the cop did it. Fight reported, guy who we're assuming was involved won't take his hands out of his pockets, cop has to be concerned for his safety as well as others'...the situation was resolved without a gun being drawn. That's always a plus.

Right before the cop lunges at him, he takes his hand out of his pocket and the cop still demands his hands be taken out.

easier to see in the video but his right hand is in his pocket when the cop lunges.... "take your hand out" also means "KEEP your hand out"

I understand his hands went back into his pockets. My point is that his hands did come out and he was still telling him to take them out. He then put his hands back in his pockets.

Point is, the guy was being an idiot, but the cop was being a dick.

Point is, the guy didn't obey the officer's command and the cop didn't have to pull his gun. Nobody was hurt, nobody was put in an unsafe situation...... no gun and nobody hurt = win in a situation when the guy isn't complying with the cop's instructions.

This is all you need to know. Cops have to deal with this kind of shit every day. They are in danger every day. They have to take care of themselves in a way WE wouldn't have to. We could have just walked away from this guy. The cop can't. He was answering a call about a fight and a guy disturbing the peace. For a cop to keep himself safe he sometimes has to stop a situation before it can get bad. For all we know that punk could be an Olympic caliber boxer or wrestler. If the cop just slowly walked over he could be putting himself in danger of what this kid could be capable of.

How long would you have him stand there and keep on asking him to take his hands out of his pockets? All night?

Cops are not the fucking Almighty. Almost every single one I've met is a dick. A few are nice and actually concerned with people's welfare. Most, in my experience, are not.

I hate this fake patriotism bullshit in this country, aka don't knock cops or the military. "They keep us safe." Fuck them.
