Haggard Finally Admits It.

Haggard confesses to 'lifelong' sexual problem - CNN.com

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado (CNN) -- Evangelical pastor Ted Haggard confessed on Sunday to a "lifelong" sexual problem, and said he was "a deceiver and a liar," in a letter read to his New Life Church.

"There is part of my life that is so repulsive and dark that I've been warring against it all of my adult life," he said in the letter.

Haggard apologized to his congregation and asked for their forgiveness in the letter read by pastor Larry Stockstill, a member of the board of overseers of New Life Church.
Did anyone not see this coming? It's straight out of the playbook. Denial, Partial admission late in the week and then play the victim role on Sunday when news isn't payed much attention to.

The funny part is that if he was just himself and hadn't been spreading the hatred, bigotry, ignorance, etc.. that he had about gay people, he'd probably be a member of a community of people that would accept him for who he is, and not care about what he does in his private life as long as it's not hurting anyone.

So, he's gay. Big deal. So are a lot of other people.

He has my pity because he's ashamed of who he is, and I don't people should have to feel like that about themselves.

Um, him?

What else is he referring to besides hiring the male escort [prostitute] and struggling with a lifelong "sexual problem", that's dark and repulsive, that he's deceived everyone about?

He's not saying he's gay. He's saying he's struggling with homosexual sex. He says he loves his wife and their relationship. And his wife says she's going to stay with him and work this out with him. That doesn't mean he's gay.

I'm not saying whether he is or isn't. Just that he hasn't said he's gay.

"Struggling with homosexual sex" = gay

If you're having gay sex, you're homosexual or bisexual.

It's not something to "cure" or "struggle with" because there's nothing wrong with it.

Maybe he loves his wife and their relationship, but he also likes being plowed by guys or plowing them. That makes him gay.

...further evidence that latent homosexuality is at the root of a preoccupation with homosexuality and its purported dangers.

I would submit that those most adamant about gay marriage destroying our society are probably struggling with homosexuality themselves. To any person 100% straight, it's intuitively obvious that homosexuals can have no effect on him. It's only those a few drinks and a business trip away from a bout of gay bath house sex who really worry about gay influences.

I'm pretty sure there's actually been studies done.

I remember seeing something on HBO or Showtime where they hooked up the genitals of homophobic people who claimed they were straight to something to measure how stimulated they were, and then showed them clips of gay sex, etc.. and did the same with those who weren't homophobic, but were also straight.

The homophobes were much more aroused by it. I wish I could remember what show it's on, but I'd be willing to bet that it's a fairly standard thing.

A study backing the theory? Interesting!

Face it lew, your former president and representative is a gay man.
"There is part of my life that is so repulsive and dark that I've been warring against it all of my adult life,"
Warning against the dark part of his life = gay bashing.

I've never seen so many people happy about people that struggle with sexual problems. As long as its a republican that struggles lets lambast them and burn them at the stake! Thats not hypocritical or anything

I am making fun of... "hey aint gay he just pays for gay sex"

You have to be fisting me with that kind of defense. Seriously.

Why struggle with homosex, why not just accept it and find a good man?

What's hypocritical is someone who preaches fire and brimstone against gays while partaking in gay sex.

His "struggle" against gay sex is a joke. He has sexual attraction towards men. It's not some kind of war.

Maybe he should embrace the way his god made him?

I think he's obviously a hypocrite but the democrats, the liberals are supposed the be the tolerant ones, the ones who welcome this stuff between two consenting adults. Unless of course there is ground to be gained from playing the other side

I don't think that the Dems or Libs even care, if it weren't for the hypocrisy.

I mean this message that he touted about anti-homosexuality, also makes him responsible for the message that he sends to the people in his community, and what those people do with that message. People are abused, bullied, assaulted, and given the scarlet letter for their sexual orientation, and this guy essentially approves of that to their face. His anti-gay rhetoric influences alot of people and their way of thinking.

If you can't see or admit to the abhorrent hypocrisy, then you'll never understand why many people see this guy as the ultimate phony, and have little to no sympathy for him.

Hell yes I'm happy when a religious homophobe gets outed for having gay sex himself. It's pathetic that as a society we have to be inundated with all these gay wedge issues when they're totally irrelevant to everyone who's not gay, all because a small group of closet homosexuals cannot come to terms with their own sexuality; instead they manifest their all-consuming, self-loathing struggle with homosexuality by projecting it onto everyone else, as if it's a huge struggle for society as a whole, when in reality it's the epitome of a non issue.

I wish these people would just come to terms with their own homosexuality, shut the fuck up, and let us deal with important issues affecting us all. Every time a Haggard gets outed, we get one step closer to that.

I think there's a huge irony here for the gay bashers, because if being gay is in fact genetic, and I think it is, then if it weren't for closet cases like Haggard gays would be extinct by now.
