And the journal said 1 - 6 degrees. So you're highballing it to the extremes that any Greeny would ever dream of claiming. In other words, it's more likely 2-5 degrees, which is about on par of what the planet has been doing on and off since man first walked this earth.

On that note China gets a pass because they have 1 billion people vs. our 300 million, yet we still produce as much if not more emissions. When 300 million people produce as many emissions as a billion, you are going to get flack for it. Both China and USA are wrong though. For now i'd say we should our own thing in reducing them and ignore china and what people tell them. At the same time, the attitude i detect from a previous post above seems to suggest we shouldn't worry about emissions just because someone else told us we need to. While i agree we should not be "told what to do" at the same time to not take action because "they told us to" out of spite is kind of stupid.

| We do regulate emissions, ever heard of the EPA? THere's a shit ton of regulations in place, so much so that we're net consumers of CO2. We pollute a lot, but we do more to clean it up than any other country, we are taking the lead. What about China? What about india? what should happen to them? China is going to double our emissions output by 2020. | ||||

| I totally agree we can't stop, we have to push forward, but Kyoto was WAY overboard which is why it didn't pass, not even close. We do need to strive to improve our emssions outputs but this running the US through the ringer while other countries do less about pollution and cleanup and have a much higher NET pollution than the US is just ridiculous. | ||||

| Kyoto didn't go far enough. In order to have a significant impact emissions have to be drastically reduced. This won't happen, so the point is moot. The reason the US does not say "fuck off" to the world is generally due to the nature of internal politics. There are plenty of US citizens who don't want the the US to tell the world to fuck off. | ||||
