Now that the Democrats have been given Rumsfeld's head...

...who will they want to go after next? Think now that they've been given an inch, they'll want to take a mile?

Rice, Cheney, who's next?

Cheney is elected by the voters, he's not going anywhere unless he decides to or he decides to acquiesce to the President's request to step down.

I think he's been marginalized though, and it's really the people who've been given Rumsfeld's head, because if there's one thing a majority of true conservatives and Democrats agree on, it's that Rumsfeld is completely incompetent and needed to be replaced by someone with a different perspective and method for making progress in Iraq.. his policies obviously weren't working, and I think the Military Times article was probably the second to last nail in his coffin..

I think had the Democrats not won the majority, he'd probably still be there for awhile.. but eventually replaced a few months down the road when it didn't look like a direct result of the election..

get rumsfeld uder the spotlight, use the evidence to get cheney, ..., or any of the pnac crew

they must explain the what & why they've done so that any future course of action can be committed to by an informed public

& i speak as a non-democrat

incidently i'm sitting next to a Pole who supports the PNAC position & says that the war was justified coz Saddam was a destabilising threat. Further he accepts the need to lie to the public coz they are too stupid to understand anything but the most simple of arguements.

He also, to a limited extent, accepts my criticism that the lying & misrepresenting the nature of the conflict has undercut public support for it & thus doomed it to failure

If the general public just accept what the TV tells them then why didnt PNAC just tell the truth & say this is going to be a long-term effort?

Coz the public have already been told that war is a bad thing is his reply

My own view is that denying control of the oil to others to prevent them using it as a geo-political weapon is easily understood by virtually everyone , ..., you just needed to persuade them that the invasion was the right way to achieve it

Heads, heads, heads , off with thier heads!
How different the actions to be undertaken are now compared with those actions taken when Republicans gained control or when when Bush took office.
Yes many a witch hunt will occur.
Many people will receive unjust attacks and the Democrats can celebrate thier vengeance! All the while ignoring how well they were treated when the opposite happened to them.
A very revealing note on thier real character.......
All you people celebrating do not let that dampen your happiness though.
For while the ole wheel of justice grinds ever so painfully slow it does yet grind exceedingly fine...
Often one gets in return that which they so happily dished out...

I would say they should replace anyone in the administration who is a member and pushing the agenda of PNAC.

Yeah, it's not like the Republicans held hearings whenever a stapler went missing from the Clinton whitehouse.

Kristol has already said a long time ago that PNAC was nothing but a place to throw around ideas; a think-tank. He's also said that PNAC is nothing but a memory anymore. He laughs anytime someone mentions it.

Here's a prediction: Cheney will resign, on his own, because he has fallen out of favor with Bush. So will Karl Rove. He followed them like the clueless jerk that he is, and they let him down. He really thought Republicans would hold the house, what does that tell you? He's delusional. I think Cheney, when he does resign, will probably be succeeded with a moderate like Guliani. That sets them up for '08. Of course, I'm probably giving Bush too much credit for being smart enough to think of that....It'll probably be his "PA'S" idea.

Oh, one of the founders of PNAC downplays the influence of the club.

There are probably 15 people in government in highly ranked positions who were part of this club. If you think they are not going to use their "think tank" ideas now that they are in power, you should probably take a look around. Iraq being one of the main steps in carrying out their idea of foreign policy.

Given that the wheels have come off the PNAC grand plan,
sending the whole region lurching in the opposite direction than that intended,
dragged the coalition into an unwinnible conflict from which there is no easy way out,
probably condemned the Iraqis to generations of strife,
totally handed the geo-politiucal lever of oil to Russia & China,
emboldened terrorists & provided them with a training ground & recruitment campaign
jacked up the incomes of autocratic regimes,
tied up troops preventing intervention elsewhere,
distracted effort from A'stan

(i could go on, ..., at quite some length)

then its hardly surprising that members may try to 'laugh it off'

Its coz they are not only amazingly stupid & purposefully arrogant but also complete & utter elitist c*nts who believe in lying as the default policy tool.

Maybe the stapler was payment for services rendered?
Maybe the stapler was sent home to the Clinton house to use stapling together bills sent to China for services rendered?
Maybe Hillary used the stapler to staple ole Bill's trouser's zipper shut?

The Clinton's robbed the Whitehouse blind when they left. They took most of the furniture, many paintings, etc. They were like a couple of cheapskates checking out of a Holiday Inn.

They took stuff worth a lot of money out of the Whitehouse that had been there for decades.

PNAC was nothing more than an idea yrs ago. Kristol laughed off the questions about it months ago.

This has nothing to do with recent events.
