| there will be hearings, but it'll just get delayed. It's only 2 more years, you know. Murder trials last longer than that. | ||||

| It's bad enough to have hearings and make him look like a total douchebag than to make Cheney the new president, he'd nuke like 10 countries | ||||

| The MOST that they would do would be to put some people under oath and make them answer questions about Iraq. | ||||

| Well, it depends on what they find out. Mismanagement because you suck at your job is one thing. Mismanagement on purpose to gain money, power, etc... would result in a bit more than getting questions asked under oath. | ||||

| what Pelosi meant, between the lines, was that if they find some minor abuses here and there, they won't do it If however, we find some memo where Bush says he plans to lie to Congress and mislead the nation into War, and wants to spy on every american without consulting congress...well then thats a different story, America would want him impeached | ||||

| wait... so dems get office because people are pissed at GOP and not through anything good they've done on their own, and their big claim to fame after 6+ years of being lame is going to be to go after the president? talk about GUARANTEEING that they'll not only not win the presidency in 2008 but they'll also RE-lose the house and senate | ||||

| 7960 are you talking about 1994 or 2006? oh you said democrats ok so i guess its 2006 majority of americans did not know about the contract with America, it was too late and voters already made up their minds in the south to switch GOP, thats how they won...negative attacks and the "southern strategy" the RNC chairman apologized for Twelve years later, myths about the Contract persist | ||||

| I'll re-examine your posts point by point since you requested it: Originally Posted by 7960 1) Waves are almost always caused because everyone is pissed at the other party...every political victor claims a mandate regardless...in 1994, 2002, 2004, etc GOP claimed to have a mandate
2) How can a minority party do anything good on their own? In the House the GOP completely shut out the Democrats...in the Senate they could try amendments but often they were ruled not germane...a "plan" for everything is impossible considering Iraq, which the minority party has nowhere near the intelligence reports that Bush has...it would be stupid to blindly make absolute strict plans for Iraq 3) They did call for a change in Iraq, that is something, and they did say the GOP was running a 'culture of corruption' voters voted on both those issues
and their "big claim to fame" will be the first 100 hours, and pushing for more progressive stances on practically every issue, and more than anything, oversight on Iraq, which voters badly want and Democrats will deliver
Only McCain has a shot at winning (the rest are too conservative, and after Bush...) because Rudy is too liberal for the base to turn out, and he's going to be destroyed if he sits there squaking as a minority party member in the Senate trying to defend the GOP and by association Bush when investigation after investigation shows GOP flaws

I'd love for them to make a push for impeachment. The push would fail (he would not be impeached) and it'd expose the dem leadership for what it is...an unorganized, scattered, deer-in-the-headlights organization with no leadship, clear direction or goal other than "we're not them!"

| I really don't think impeaching Bush is a good idea. I'd rather dems use the senate and house to put together some badass legislation, and then make Bush look like a jackass for vetoing it or force him to pass it; in either case dems and america come out the winners. | ||||
