Human life span could be expanded to 4 CENTURIES!

Humans May Stay Young For 400 Years

Seems they've found and figured out how to deactivate the aging gene. If he same results can be shown in Humans... 400 years of life and young until the last few years? I'm game.

You're assuming this is forced. Don't want to live past 90? Just leave your DNA alone.

well, since people would still be young and able, there would be no SS. That or raise the age to 390?

I would say that you would have an extra 300 years in which something bad could happen that send you down the suicide road.

Sure. But I'd hardly call that a reason to not increase your lifespan

Yeah but what if this life extension technology was very expensive and only say, 25% of people could afford it.

This is genetic, that 25% would be 75% inside a century unless you sterilize them.

It still presents a challenge in the mean time. with even say 500,000 people drawing on SS for 200 years rather than 10 or 20, the budget would quickly get depleted. There are probably other areas of concern as well. The movie Gattaca comes to mind

If at 300 you had the body of a 40 year old, would it matter?

It's not about having a cetain gene. It's about deactivating a certain gene.

What about everyone else? They die. Lucky bastards.

Population explosion? Enter mother nature. Life is not for them, and she is the cure.

I am trying to make the point that expanding human longevity by a factor of 4 would be great for the individual but would present some real problems for a society which has been built around people living 85 years or so.

Which is why we keep it a secret.
