Amnesty for Illegals post 2006 Election?

That seems to be the news commentator buzz. That Bush can reach across party lines now and get his former comprehensive plan passed.

I hope not, but think it possible.

Opinions?

They will pass the amnesty bullshit

The unfunded 700 mile fence on the 2000 mile border will just remain exactly that. So in another 10 years we will have 20 million more people here illegally, who get worker passes, costing us billions more in taxes.

I agree completely. Appears that somebody has an agenda to weaken our nation beyond repair. Allowing 20 million illegals now and keeping the back door wide open will eventually reach the 40 million total in another 5 to 10 years. That many illegals with no concept of and no allegiance to our nation is just about right. Right amount to cost us trillions in maintaining and even more damage to our culture.
They for the most part will eventually expect us to have to learn Spanish.
My how the worm turns when the demonrats play.
It will get much worse before it ever gets better.

Democrats will capture the Hispanic vote for the next 100 years if they play this right, yes, with earned citizenship

When it gets down to it, these guys are just as hard-working and moral as Italians were...sure they couldn't speak english and were in the mafia etc, but they assimilate, even if they constantly have their st columbus parades and italian flags...

>"Play this right and get the Hispanic vote for the next 100 years."<

Nice to see where your priorities are.
You have no thought about the disruptive ,weakening effect they will play
to our culture?
You speak of the Italians in comparison. The comparison is wrong IMO.
The Italians came here legally with the intent to become Americans and did
readily ,willingly learn to speak our language. Furthermore they taught thier children to be Americans.
Giving those that disregarded our national soverignty a free gift of citizenship will not magicly turn them into Americans nor will it force them to give true allegiance to our country.
It will almost certainly further weaken our culture and nation.

Play it for the political gain , the hell with patriotism or concern for our childrens and grandchildren's future.
I got you , I hear you loud and clear!

I love you.

Italians came here to become americans. They changed their names to "americanize" them, gave their kids american-sounding names, started 11tybillion businesses with names like "AMERICAN HYDROSEED" and "PATRIOT LANDSCAPING" and "US TILE and BRICK." Those were just a few of the trucks at the Italian-american golf fundraiser I played in a few weeks ago.

Mexicans have not shown that they want to assimilate. They want to come and recreate mexico. Italians, while still loving italy, wanted to *be* american, not just come to america.

While this is generally a democrat issue, we can't lose sight on the fact that president (republican) bush and other republicans favor amnesty as well. Just as ronald reagan did as well.

It is kind of 70-30 for democrats who favor amnesty, and 50/50 for republicans.

Either way the 70 and 50 i can't agree with on this issue.

They will eventually in a generation or so anyway.

You are correct Bush does favor amnesty. As does other Republicans.
I strongly disagree with those that do favor no matter what thier political party affiliation is.
Bush is wrong , the other Republicans are wrong as well.
Rewarding those that spit on our national soveriegnty can never be correct!
It can and does reveal to the world just how many foolish people live in America.
As if Kerry hadnt already showed them.....

7960 , brother you tell it like it is.
The difference is amazing . Those facts you cited are the truth that others readily seek to deny.

Americanized their names...thats why they hang italian flags inside their house and almost all their last names end in a vowel

Still in many places there are "italian restaurants" and "Joe's Italian Pizza Shop"

what a bunch of BS

Italians are more annoying about being Italian than any Mexican I've ever met, and Italians have been here a lot longer

"Mexicans don't want to integrate" well yeah the ones who can't throw their wife and kids over the fence and have to work here themselves tend to actually GO BACK TO MEXICO during certain times

However, 2nd generation mexicans...ive yet to see any signs they are less americanized than 2nd generation italians of the 19th century

Oh yeah, there are NO Mexicans or Italians in Philadelphia

Demographics of Philadelphia - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ok, ok, maybe over 100,000 hispanics, and over 100,000 italians, but thats nothing, i mean, there are billions of Mexicans in some Florida cities, right?

Many, many more than in the North. And even 2nd and 3rd generations are still living in the Hispanic neighborhoods, refusing to assimilate.

those who refuse to assimilate pay for it with miserable lives. Who are we to tell these people to drop their culture and improve themselves

(I think for the most part, children of immigrants drop nearly all affiliation with their parents' country and become as American as any other kid born here)

It hurts our economy more than it hurts them when we have to pay for their healthcare, education, etc. esepecially when they are giving nothing in return

Wait, are we talking about legal or illegal immigrants?

If legal, they are giving something in return.

If illegal, do you want them to integrate? I thought you wanted them to leave?
