Yea I know. I was trying to show that a high minimum wage did not hurt Australia, and I have a thing about trade deficits and how they are damaging America, so I threw that in to show how bad off america is but I know that the low minimum wage does not have much to do with it. I think though that a higher minimum wage would improve poor areas. That is where a lot of small mom and pop businesses could use the extra money that would come from the poor having more money.

Yea America is doing bad. With just the trade with China where they keep their money at a artifically low value to have a bigger advantage against American competition we are falling behind billions a year in trade deficit. Which means we owe them billions so they are able to buy our national debt and be our bankers, and they are also able to buy our country's land and businesses because of the trade deficit, and now they want to buy a oil company. Great huh?

I think minimum wage laws are important, but they should not be set at a federal level. It won't do anything to places like california who have a much higher standard of living than the rest of the country. It also will overcompensate in places like Kentucky where the standard of living is low. States should all set thier own minimum wage. Alot of them already do actually, but some care about it more than others.

California doesn't have a higher standard of living they have a higher cost of living. There's a distinct difference between the words "standard" and "cost".
