| A question for those that support minimum wage increases Would you also support the government setting a minimum price for milk of, say, $5 per gallon? After all, family owned milk producers are going under because their product is not profitable at the current levels and they have no other skills to fall back on. So shouldn't the government help out these people by setting a price floor under which their product cannot legally be sold? After all, they do it for people that are selling the product known as labor.

| By "those who support" you mean "the american people" Those ballot initiatives pass everytime, and most Americans want it, the Democrats are reflecting the will of the people, this is perfectly fine in situations where we can always lower the minimum wage if it destroys the economy or something ridiculous | ||||

We already passed a federal law defining marriage as between a man and a woman...you see me crowing about that everyday? No, we can always get rid of it later, but let the people speak and let them elect representatives pass laws | ||||

| And if the economy ends up tanking but people don't vote to lower the minimum wage later? The minimum wage has never been lowered, even when we went through almost a decade of horrible economic performance in the 70s and 80s. Why do you think suddenly the electorate would correct a mistake on their part, when they haven't before? | ||||

| Also Thorgrim, since I know you're a fan of the semi-socialist Nordic states... They have no minimum wage laws, rather they have organized labor that sets wage rules through collective bargaining with employers. Why not allow something like that, a pretty damn free market solution, here in the United States? | ||||
