Libertarians are lazy

Face it, you guys have to apply your free market bullshit to every single issue and skirt any sort of problems it may cause. You ignore the views of everybody else, and cram your square-peg ideology into any round hole your can find. Just once I'd like to hear justification for something that comes out of your mouth that doesn't involve the free market mantra.

Stop using theories exclusively to explain away real-life issues. kthx.

I'm pretty sure this thread is trolling, but ok, I can do that.

I don't think marriage should be legislated because the government should not be involved in people's personal lives.

The same goes for drugs (though there is some economical reasoning behind that one too).

There's lots more like that

I got tired of repeating myself in the other thread and made this thread to vent. You guys need to come with something other than the wishful thinking that free markets are going to solve all our problems, or at least provide some sort of reasoning beyond repeating the same thing over and over and over again. It would help if you actually listened to what other people said and tried to understand it.

I am a libertarian, and I don't throw out the free market argument at everything, although I think it can work in many cases.

If you think that's not true, look at the walmart thread.

For hardcore Libertarian philosophy to actually work, there must be a utopian enviornment for it to exist in.

However, that doesn't exist and thus it's destined to fail unless accompanied by something else that will iron out the flaws that exist because of that lack of utopia. Communism is the exact same way.

I promise I understand what you're saying... it's just that your conclusions don't often make sense. I mean, after reading books on Austrian school economics and stuff like The Road to Serfdom, it really makes the arguements you present "old"

And I'm not just talking about you specifically. The left always brings the same arguements to the table

The thread that has bheld so pissed off isn't even 100% big-L Libertarian. It's half socialist

The arguments on the left often boil down to "A society is only as healthy as its treatment of its smallest and weakest members".

At least you can have a logical discussion that actually goes somewhere. This thread doesn't really apply to you, more to the one size fits all crowd.

Well it's usually helpful then to address what other people are saying instead of repeating the same thing that they were responding to. They bring the same arguments to the table because you keep ignoring them.

The invisible hand of the free market certainly can be a valuable tool. But I don't think it's the holy grail some think it is.

People make it out to be a lot less predictable than it is. People being driven by money is one of the most predictable actions in the world

And one of the main reasons why every idea you presented in the other thread is so bad.

It's valuable for everything that doesn't involve some sort of social responsibility.

Digital Cameras: yes
Education: no

Digital Cameras don't have a degree of social responsibility?

That's exactly what I'm talking about. It can be argued that there is a social responsibility for digital cameras.

Whether it be voyeurism, national security, invasion of privacy, etc.
