One of our friends little girls brought me in as her "project" to talk about East/West Germany and the Wall. It was a 4th grade history class. I brought in maps of before and after the wall came down. German Money. Gummy Bears. And pictures I took of the abandoned autobahn and the wall and guard towers with soldiers looking at me with their binoculars.

It was supposed to be a half hour but ended up lasting and hour and a half. It was great. The kids were really interested and asked some of the best questions. I left feeling like I could really get used to that kind stuff. I loved it.

1st grade shouldn't be so bad. Kids usually still have respect for authority at that age.

You would think so. But from what my wife tells me, they will walk all over you unless you know how to control them.

Being a Cub Scout leader last year with 13 first graders in my Den I can tell you, it gets pretty wild sometimes.

This year I have 18 2nd graders in my Den

I challenge anyone to occupy even one 1st grader for 2 hours....... trying to do it for 20 of them for 6 hours is extremely difficult.

I don't know, over the summer I taught summer school and was a summer camp counselor. I worked 8 to 10 hour days and I taught kids from 6 years old to 12 years old. Don't get me wrong, all kids have their moments, but I think it was by far the best job and easiest job I ever had. Kids are fun. If you pay attention to them and help them accomplish anything, they love you.

The job itself had some problems with organization and the people running the camp were NOT top of the line...but the job itself was pretty easy. I guess I have a lot of patience.
