Romney holds key advantages among financially struggling white voters

In an election year in which the economy ranks as Americans’ top concern, presumptive Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney holds significant advantages over President Obama among white voters who are struggling financially and buffeted by job loss, according to a new Washington Post-ABC News poll.

Asked which candidate would do more to advance their families’ economic interests, middle-class white voters who say they are struggling to maintain their financial positions chose Romney over Obama by a large margin — 58 percent to 32 percent.

The former Massachusetts governor has a similar advantage on this question among white voters who have lost a job in recent years, or who have seen a family member or close friend face unemployment.

Nonwhite voters, struggling or not, give Obama huge leads over Romney when it comes to looking after their families’ financial interests.

The faith that people had in Obama is dying, time is up.

If somehow Romney could break the undying allegiance struggling minorities have to Obama he could blow this race open.

But it will be very difficult to over come bias like this:
A few dozen protesters met him with chants of “Get out, Romney, get out!”

Madaline G. Dunn, 78, who said she has lived there for 50 years, said she is “personally offended” that Romney would visit her neighborhood.

“It’s not appreciated here,” she said. “It is absolutely denigrating for him to come in here and speak his garbage.”

I didn't realize we still lived in a country where a major Presidential candidate wouldn't be welcomed in certain parts of the country.

Can't watch the video but a blog from an Occupy supporter can't even find one instance of vocal distant for the President.

Besides do you have any comments for the topic of the thread?

I quoted you directly. You stated:

I was helping you feel more informed so you wouldn't mistakenly make that statement again.

As far as your thread goes, poor Romney. People don't like him...not even Republicans. Not sure why you think Democrats should come flocking to him? Messiah much?

I would think struggling democrats would consider him because Obama has failed to deliver what he promised.

And we are seeing Democrats in primaries across the country vote for anyone including "uncommitted" rather than Obama.

Struggling Democrats believe that they are struggling because of Bush...not Obama. They see him as trying to do what he can to help them.

Primaries mean nothing...if they did...Romney wouldn't have lost any to Ron Paul or Rick Santorum.

Only meant to weed out the non candidates like Huntsman.

By the way, who is legitimately running against Obama? Anyone? No? Ok.

I was joking with you....I used Huntsman for a reason.

But yes, Mitt was non candidate. He wasn't going to get nomination. Nobody wanted him this time either.

Who is running against Obama again?

What exactly is your point in this thread?

You don't seem to be trying to convince anyone here to vote for Romney. You aren't making a point about a stance or arguing for anything. You are just arguing that Romney might have a chance if some hypothetical (which isn't going to happen) happened?

Either he has a chance or he doesn't. Arguing about whether or not he does doesn't change anything (least of all anyone's opinions on the matter, which don't matter anyway).
