Kurds
Relatively Secular Sunni nationalists
Sunni terrorists
Shia Mahdi Army
Shia Badr Corp

4 of the 6 would fire at our soldiers and when the soldiers were dead, they would turn and shoot at each other. It seems that is the only thing they can agree on right now.

These guys lost the election; what do you expect them to do, agree with everything the opposing party does? The Republicans and Conservatives still disagree with the policies the Democrats stand for and want to push, and they will make that known. I don't know that 'crying' is the term that should be used.

Were the Democrats 'crying' for the past 10 yrs?

No doubt but without a plan and goals it will remain a mess that has to be dealt with longer

Democrats Push for Troop Cuts Within Months - New York Times

Isn't it great how we telegraph this news to our enemies long before the "Panel" even begins to meet!

our "enemies" have been planning for our withdrawl since 2004, and what they are going to do afterwards

even if we pledged to stay 10 years, our "enemies" would go "Ok whats the plan for after 10 years?"

Israel was in Lebanon for 20 years, you think Hezbollah was hurt because they didn't know how long it was until Israel was going to pull out?

Update:

Emboldened Democrats to Urge Iraq Exit

The Bush administration must tell Iraq that U.S. troops will begin withdrawing in four to six months, the next chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee said Wednesday, as Congress began re- examining U.S. policy in the wake of last week's Democratic election victory.

"We cannot save the Iraqis from themselves. The only way for Iraqi leaders to squarely face that reality is for President Bush to tell them that the United States will begin a phased redeployment of our forces within four to six months," Sen. Carl Levin, D-Mich., said at the outset of a hearing featuring the top U.S. commander in the Middle East.
Drudge is reporting that generals on the ground in Iraq are warning against setting a timetable for withdrawal.

Top U.S. commander in Middle East warns against timetable for withdrawal... Developing...
Edit: here it is:

In arguing against a timetable for troop withdrawals, Abizaid told the committee that he and other U.S. commanders need flexibility in managing U.S. forces and determining how and when to pass on responsibility to Iraqi forces.

"Specific timetables limit that flexibility," the general said.
I ask all here who have criticized Bush for 'not listening to those in charge on the ground in Iraq'...will you also criticize the Democrats for not doing the same thing?

He serves at the pleasure of the president

That being said...a specific timetable could be EVERY SINGLE PERSON IS OUT IN 4 MONTHS that is not what the democrats are proposing

I don't know that anybody is under that impression

Why would you assume so?

Update:

The general mentioned above also suggests we don't need more troops in Iraq after all, and says things are looking up:

“It seems to me that the prudent course ahead is to keep the troop levels about where they are,” Abizaid said, while placing larger teams of U.S. military advisers inside Iraqi army and police units. He said that increased emphasis on advising Iraqi units might be accomplished without significantly increasing the total U.S. force in the country.
The good news from Iraq just keeps pouring in...

I guess he missed the raid yesterday where armed gunmen stormed one of the Government ministries and kidnapped ~150ish people in broad daylight thanks to the corruption of police officials.

Yes, things are looking up in Iraq......... if you run a militia.

Oh, and I guess he missed the interview with the Iraqi policeman who was talking about how everyone else in the police department he works at is so corrupt, that in order to go anywhere or do anything in that country you have to be willing to bribe people with lots of money..

And that honest people who decide not to take bribes are pushed out, not given promotions, etc..

We should redeploy our troops like Murtha has suggested, provide stability when needed, be willing to back up the Iraqi forces.. but our troops shouldn't be dying to stop a centuries old battle between ethnic-religious factions that we stirred up again IMO

Iraq will calm down after awhile, but they're going to get their fight on first. It's just a question of how many troops we are willing to sacrifice in the process..

IMO it's not worth their lives if the Iraqi's refuse to work together and things continue to degrade..

How about the 50 bodies found today? Miss those? Let me ask you something...if Iraq is so great, or "getting better", would the "meh" reaction be any different to, let's say, 50 bodies found in Iowa?

50 bodies are found in Iowa all the time and I don't hear democrats denouncing it.

Hmmmm... TOP TEN LEADING CAUSES OF DEATH:

Heart Disease – 28.5%

Malignant Neoplasm (Cancer) –22.8%

Cerebrovascular Diseases (Stroke) – 6.7%

Chronic Lower Respiratory Disease– 5.1%

Accidents (Unintentional) –4.4%

Diabetes Melitus– 3.0%

Influenza/Pneumonia –2.7%

Alzheimer’s– 2.4%

Nephritis(Liver Disease) – 1.7%

Septicemia – 1.4%

Another interesting statistic of note can be found in "Is US Health Really the Best in the World?", published in the Journal of the American Medical Association and written by Barbara Starfield, MD, MPH. In this paper Dr. Starfield gives the following statistics:

7,000 deaths occur each year due to medication errors in hospitals

12,000 deaths occur each year due to unnecessary surgery

20,000 deaths occur each year due to other hospital errors

80,000 deaths occur each year due to nosocomial infections in hospitals

106,000 deaths occur each year due to adverse effects to properly prescribed medications

This equals 225,000 deaths due to what are known as iatrogenic causes. This would place them as the third leading cause of death - just above cerebrovascular diseases at 162,672 deaths.

IN OTHER WORDS AMERICA HAS FAILED AND WE MUST ABANDON AMERICA! TOOMANY PEOPLE ARE DIEING ON THE STREET EACH DAY SO IT'S A FAILURE! FUCK THE FUCKING REPUBLICANS! IT'S ALL THEIR FAULT! DEMOCRATS ARE SUCH HOLY AND ANGELIC BEINGS THAT NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENS IT'S ALWAYS THE REPUBLICANS FAULT! IF A DEMOCRAT DID THE MOST HEINIOUS CRIMES IN FRONT OF 60 MILLION PEOPLE ON TV THEY'D BLAME IT ON THE REPUBLICANS!

DEMOCRATS CAN DO NO WRONG!

GET USED TO THE FUCKING IDEA!

NO MATTER WHAT CRIME IT'S ALWAYS THE REPUBLICANS' FAULT!

People dieing from medical problems in old age is something to hope for. The current leading cause of death in Iraq is violence. Of course people are going to die, we all die, but more people die in Iraq from bullets than heart attacks, your figures are useless.

And soldiers will die in any military conflict as well, so those complaints of soldiers dieing are worthless. THE DEMOCRATS ARE JUST DENOUNCING THEIR DEATHS BECAUSE OF PARTISAN POLITICS AND DON'T GIVE A DAMN ABOUT THEM ANYWAY.

I am not even talking about soldiers at this point. 50 PEOPLE...or do you just not care about those people because they don't count?
