Is Dubya faking that he sucks at speaking?

I've heard conspiracies before that Bush is much smarter than he appears, and the dunce act is all for political gain to appeal to joe six pack...kind of the anti-elite Kerry, if you will.
I always thought that was true to some little extent, but to think he's putting on a huge charade was a little too tin foil hattish for my taste.

And then I saw this:

Listening to the guy speak 10 years ago vs. now is like night and day. Either he has a serious medical condition or he's faking it. Which is it?

I've always thought that he stumbled so much because of the speeches written for him and trying to stay "on message."

It's hard to tell what's going on, but the difference is undeniable.

He was probably on still doing blow 12 years ago. A very large portion of carsalesmen do it to be all peppy. He probably took a line before he went out there for his governor debate.

Another possible difference is that before he was commited to his message & chose his speech writers, whereas now its the other way round & they are using him.

Or even, possibly, that he now lacks confidence.

I find the 'deliberately stupid' thesis hard to believe, not least coz the cost internationally is big. Incidently, if true, what would the rest of the world think of that?

Perhaps his years of alcoholism have caught up with him.

But the difference does seem real

Listen to his speaches when he is emotional. 9/11 and the days afterwerds.

For normal politic stuff it seems he can only do a speech if it is a well practiced one. Otherwise you get random sayings

international cost is not a negative. it's a positive. it's all part of the persona he's going for. his base in america actually likes it when he pisses off foreign people. the more europeans don't like him, the more they love him. and his neocon handlers like this as well because they don't want him to cooperate internationally. they want america to unilaterally conquer the world.
